Barack Obama launches key Mid-East mission; Obama: I'll personally pursue two-state solution

US President Barack Obama made his much heralded speech in Cairo today leaving the Islamic world with a sense of hope from his new tone but said they need to see it backed up with action on the ground.

The Israeli government also expressed hope that the speech would lead to peace but made it clear that their security concerns would hold a paramount position in any future peace negotiations.

Although, President Obama expressed his allegiance to an unbreakable bond between US and Israeli ties, his most recent decisions seem to favor the Islamic world at the expense of Israel.  Even his fellow Democrats are questioning the wisdom of his call for Israel to halt any natural settlement growth as crossing over a red line.  "I think the president went beyond where I think it was appropriate for us to go in dealing with another democracy," said Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner.  Newsmax.com

So where does this speech take us?  One step closer to a future peace agreement.  Whether it will be the peace agreement of the future Antichrist is to be seen.  Many are tempted to label Obama as the future Antichrist due to his charisma and the many Messiah-like references throughout his presidential run.  I do find that shocking as well, but that doesn't make him the Antichrist.  The fact is, if you think he's the Antichrist that likely means he's not.  According to II Thessalonians 2:3-10, the Antichrist will not be revealed until the Holy Spirit (Restrainer, v. 7) gets out of the way and allows him to enter the world scene.

One very important point many forget, this world will be much different when Satan is permitted to rule.  When the Holy Spirit is removed at the rapture of the church, this world will be in complete chaos.  Although Satan will not need complete chaos to deceive the nations, he will use it to his advantage to immediately move in and set up his kingdom.  At this time, he will raise up a new leader (Antichrist) who will enjoy an unprecedented  meteoric rise to world power.  This rise will likely take place during the gap of time between the rapture and the start of the tribulation period.  The reason I believe there will be a gap of time is because even when Jesus comes back to reign there will be a gap of 75 days between His Second Coming and the start of the Millennium (Daniel 12:11-12).  Satan will likely require at least that amount of time if not years.  Much will depend on how much preparation time God has allowed Satan to have prior to the rapture.  Meaning...God could be permitting Satan to groom his Antichrist right now in order to coincidence with His perfect plan.  If not, Satan will need time to get his kingdom in order.  When he does, all previous speculation will be thrown out the window and a new dynamic leader will be born.  In time, all others will have to bow to his intelligence, charisma, and power.  He will be like none before him and bring a peace that no mortal man of his day has ever accomplished (Daniel 9:27).  But in the end, he will subdue the world through war (Daniel 7:24; Revelation 13) and gather to him ten kingdoms.  Those ten kingdoms will likely come out of the present day European Union from which he will rise.  

As we draw closer to the end of 2009, it will be interesting to see where this latest push for Middle East peace takes us.  Will President Obama bring peace, and if so, will it be the seven-year peace accord of Daniel 9:27?
