'Obama proposed plan for peace deal within two years'; US wants Mideast talks to start soon, end quickly
Monday, President Obama called Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu:
"The president reiterated the principal elements of his Cairo speech, including his commitment to Israel's security. He indicated that he looked forward to hearing the prime minister's upcoming speech outlining his views on peace and security," the White House said in a written statement. Foxnews.com
Whether his phone call will influence Netanyahu's upcoming speech is debatable. But I would think the wishes of the US government would play a pivotal role in Mr. Netanyahu's speech. Although, this is what Haaretz recently reported:
Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported Tuesday that, according to Netanyahu aides, the prime minister believes that Obama wants to create a confrontation with Israel to help him improve relations with the Arab world. Foxnews.com
That's a bold accusation, whether true or not, that won't help in smoothing out US-Israeli tensions.
President Obama has presented to both Israel and Egypt a peace plan that will create a Palestinian state within two-years. Mr. Obama presented the plan during Mr. Netanyahu's White House visit in May and has given him six weeks to respond.
Meanwhile, overall Damascus-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashal reportedly plans to follow Netanyahu’s speech next week with an announcement of his own on the future direction of the terror group.
Another London-based Arabic daily, Al-Quds Al-Arabi, reported that Mashal has been looking at a number of options for Hamas going forward following Obama’s speech in Cairo. Israel Today
Netanyahu announced the address at the weekly cabinet
meeting Sunday: "I would like to make it clear: We want to achieve peace
with the Palestinians and with the countries of the Arab world, while attempting
to reach maximum understanding with the US and our friends around the
world," he said. "My aspiration is to achieve a stable peace that
rests on a solid foundation of security for the State of Israel and its
citizens."
"Next week, I will make a major diplomatic speech in which I will present
the citizens of Israel with our principles for achieving peace and security.
Ahead of the speech, I intend to listen to the opinions of the coalition
partners and other elements among the Israeli public." Israel

Speculation has been running wild in Israeli newspapers that Netanyahu, who has been reluctant to endorse the creation of a Palestinian state, may do so this Sunday. Most believe he will endorse a demilitarized Palestinian state that will be protected by neighboring nations.
The US has stated that it wants Middle East peace talks to resume quickly and end quickly.
US peace envoy George Mitchell will be heading to Syria and Lebanon next.
What does all this mean? The Bible prophesied (2500 years ago) in Daniel 9:27, that in the last days, after Israel once again returns to their land, they would make a peace accord with many. This peace accord is shaping up to be with many. Israel has been promised by the Islamic world, if they create a Palestinian state and make East Jerusalem the capital of that state, 57 Islamic nations who presently do not have relations with Israel will immediately normalize their relations with them.
Only time will tell which direction the Middle East peace talks will head next. Is this the peace accord which the prophesied Antichrist will bring (see Article# 928) or is it the time of peace and safety predicted to come just before the start of the War of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38:8, 11, 14).
