Will creation of Palestinian state serve as precursor timeline of tribulation period? Jerusalem declared stumbling block by top obama think tank
A Washington-based think tank that is viewed as one of the primary sources of foreign policy advise for US President Barack Obama is recommending that Israel surrender control of Jerusalem to an international body.
The Center for American Progress (CAP) correctly determined that the issue of Jerusalem is the primarily obstacle to peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
As such, in order to move forward with the land-for-peace process as a whole, CAP has suggested that a third party administer and police the city while both Israel and the Palestinians maintain their claims to sovereignty until an agreement can be reached.
CAP expects that agreement would take a very long time to reach, if ever, but that in the meantime the rest of the conflict could be concluded. Israel Today
This is another astonishing page out of Bible prophecy. One of President Obama's top foreign policy think tanks, The Center for American Progress (CAP), has come to the conclusion that Jerusalem is the number one obstacle to ME peace. They believe, in order for peace to move forward, this issue must be solved. Many top officials in Israel fear this report since President Obama relies heavily on CAP to guide and direct his foreign policy decisions.
Coincidently, Zechariah 12:3 paints the same scenario for Middle East peace in the last days. It says, "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."
I believe this could be talking about a future double consequence. Certainly, prophecy has been right on with Jerusalem becoming a "burdensome stone for all people" but I believe there could be a part two to this scenario. As the article indicates, this city may be turned into an international city while other details are worked out. This is the way I feel it may turn:
First, Jerusalem is turned over to international hands. Meaning...an international force is brought in to keep the peace. Although, Israel agrees to this, I do not believe they will give up sovereignty over Jerusalem, but this move will push the peace talks into high gear. Second, with Jerusalem in international hands, smaller issues, such as borders and settlements will be able to be worked out. There will likely be a timeline for the complete establishment of a Palestinian state. The last issue to be worked out will be the division of Jerusalem.
Bringing Israel under international control, some have speculated, will include the holy sites as well. It will be interesting to see if this move will allow Israel to rebuild the Temple on the Temple Mount. As the Bible foretells, Israel will rebuild its Temple in the last days (Daniel 9:27; Revelation 11:1-2), but now a debate is raging as to whether it must be rebuilt on the original site. Personally, I don't think God will allow the Temple to be rebuilt anywhere else, but neither will the Islamic nations allow it to be built on its original site. This serves up a problem that I believe God will supernaturally resolve in the near future.
Whether or not the establishment of a Palestinian state will make up the framework for the prophesied seven-year peace agreement is yet to be seen. However, the events that are arising from its creation seem to be unfolding Bible prophecy right before our eyes. Who would have believed, in the same generation that Israel rises from the ashes to once again become a nation, Jerusalem would be recaptured? Who would have believed, in that same generation, a peace treaty with Israel and many would be taking place (Daniel 9:27) where Jerusalem is considered the main obstacle to peace (Zechariah 12:3). These and other prophesies (see Rebirth Of Israel To Peace for other prophesies) have all been fulfilled in the very first generation of Israel's existence just as the Bible predicted. The astonishing part of this is they were all prophesied to happen within this generation by as far back as 2,500 years ago.
One more thing, at the end of the peace timeline, I believe Israel will be called upon to fulfill their obligation to split Jerusalem. But, they will at the last minute have a change in heart and refuse to do so. When this happens, I believe the antichrist will gather the nations of the world and surround Jerusalem to take it by force. But as Scripture foretells (Zechariah 12:2-3; Revelation 16:16; 19:1-21), they will be supernaturally defeated at the Second Coming of Christ.
From this point on, Jesus, along with the Saints, will rule the earth for 1,000 years.
