PM: Talks with Palestinians to resume by end of September

The Euphrates is drying up. Strangled by the water policies of Iraq’s neighbors, Turkey and Syria; a two-year drought; and years of misuse by Iraq and its farmers, the river is significantly smaller than it was just a few years ago. Some officials worry that it could soon be half of what it is now.

The shrinking of the Euphrates, a river so crucial to the birth of civilization that the Book of Revelation prophesied its drying up as a sign of the end times, has decimated farms along its banks, has left fishermen impoverished and has depleted riverside towns as farmers flee to the cities looking for work.  New York Times

Even the liberal New York Times is citing the Book of Revelation as predicting, in the last days, that the Euphrates River would dry up (Revelation 16:12).  I don't necessarily believe that this is what the is referring to.  The Turkish government has been able to mechanically dry up the Euphrates River since the 1990s, but this story is certainly interesting.

In other news, US President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu are both doing their part campaigning for peace in the Middle East.  Mr. Obama will be unveiling his version of the Middle East peace plan in a few weeks, while Mr. Netanyahu is in Europe attempting to persuade their leaders toward his way of thinking.

Although, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman does applaud their efforts, he does not believe peace is anywhere in the immediate future.  "Despite giving everything, we were unable to strike peace 16 years after (the Oslo Accords). I'm willing to bet there won't be peace 16 years from now either, certainly not one based on the two-state solution," he said. Ynetnews.com

As far as human reasoning goes, I would have to agree with Mr. Lieberman...peace does not look to be possible for a multitude of reasons.  But when the rapture takes place and the man of sin is revealed (II Thessalonians 2:1-11), he will be given extraordinary supernatural power to fool the nations...and he will!  What seemed impossible before he came along will now be very possible.
