Two questions arise...who will this mystery president be and what will be his official role?  

As European leaders expect the last country, the Czech Republic, to sign the Lisbon Treaty, attention turns to not just who will fill the post of president but what this person will actually do. The job spec, as laid out in the treaty, is spare on detail. The president of the council shall "chair it and drive forward its work". He/she "shall endeavour to facilitate cohesion and consensus within the EC".

It's all very bland, and on that basis you would not expect a stack of applications. It sounds like a post for a bureaucratic ringmaster. But then comes something a little more enticing and intriguing: "The president of the EC shall... ensure the external representation of the union on issues concerning its common and security policy."

That last sentence has been taken to define the post. The president will be the face of the European Union. He/she will raise its profile around the world. It used to be
said, apocryphally, that the president of the United States never knew who to call in Europe. Now he will. Europe would no longer be just a place "to fly over". It will have a president.

There is another twist to this story. The other big job to be filled is the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security. He/she will be the global trouble-shooter. There are some who want this post to have more power than the president. It could well be that the EU "foreign minister" will, in reality, be the face of the union on the international stage. For as the haggling begins in earnest an old truth re-emerges that no-one likes to see their own power and influence weakened.  BBC

Two questions arise...who will this mystery president be and what will be his official role?  If this new president is indeed the future Antichrist, the Bible describes him as a very prominent, well establish international leader that Satan will eventually turn into an international superstar the likes of which the world has never seen (see article The Antichrist And His Activities). 

There are some very distinct characteristics of this selection that you should pay close attention to.  I find it interesting that the leaders of the EU, and not the people, will choose this powerful president.  The Bible says that these kings shall receive power "one hour with the beast" and shall "have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast (Revelation 17:12b-13b)."  The fact that the leaders of the EU are coming together to select the president and not the people should set off a prophetic warning light in your mind.  

The second characteristic of this selection of a powerful president is that it has raised opposition from three EU member states Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.  Daniel 7:24 says that when the Antichrist comes to power he will have opposition and will have to put down (subdue) three kings within his kingdom.  Such a strong reaction would be hard to believe under the present European Union leadership, but when Satan takes control of the Antichrist, he will be feared and ruthless leader (Revelation 13:3-4).  

The Bible says that this future seven headed beast will have one of his heads wounded unto death (v. 3a).  There are many theories as to how this passage maybe interrupted.  I believe it is stating that the Antichrist will be assassinated.  When the Antichrist rises to unprecedented world power, somehow he will be killed.  This will take place either just before or just after he desecrates the Temple.  For the sake of this theory let's say he is killed just before he desecrates the Temple (Daniel 9:27) and declares that he is God (Revelation 13:1-8).  

As shocking as his assassination will be, somehow he will rise again. Just as Christ died and rose again, so the Antichrist will duplicate this same feat. How he is healed or by what power is not apparent. We can only guess that Satan is behind this false resurrection and God has allowed it to happen.  I speculate that he (Antichrist) will be in the grave for three days as Christ was before he was resurrected. 

Consequently, those evil ones imitate the divine trinity of God. Satan corresponds to the Father; the Antichrist corresponds to the Son; and the false prophet to the Holy Spirit.  As God the Father gives all His power to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit does honor to Jesus, so Satan will give all his power to the Antichrist, and the false prophet will give honor to the Antichrist.

The world will be in awe of him. For he was dead and now has come back to life. He will declare himself to be God and command that all the world worship him and freely they will (Revelation 13:3-8). With the false prophet at his side and Satan indwelling him, the world will see him as messiah.  For they will say, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"  He will literally trick the world into worshipping him.

As far as the other twist in this story...who will be this High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security?  I don't have the slightest idea, but I'm sure Javier Solana's name will pop up at some point.  I don't see the person in this role being more powerful than the EU president, but it will be interesting to see who this individual eventually turns out to be and how much power he/she will possess.

News: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero last Thursday that talks between Israel and the United States over construction in the settlements on the West Bank had ended.

"We solved the matter of the settlements with the Americans," Netanyahu told his Spanish counterpart.

Israel is "very close" to making a deal to restart negotiations with the Palestinians, Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor said Sunday.

He endorsed the possibility of talking about final-status issues, such as Jerusalem, as part of those negotiations even though Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has been resisting doing so, but Meridor cautioned against building expectations too high as a result.  Jpost.com

According to a World Net Daily article, Lord Christopher Monckton says that the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen on December 7-18 has as one of its main goals the establishment of a one-world government with climate change as merely a pretext for this new system.  Examiner.com
