Mideast trip begins today; meeting with Arafat sought By John Donnelly, Globe Staff, 4/8/2002 WASHINGTON - Only hours before embarking on an open-ended and critical Middle East peace mission, Secretary of State Colin L. Powell said yesterday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had ''taken very much to heart'' a call from President Bush to pull back immediately from six Palestinian cities and towns. But no timetable was set, he said. Powell also said that he must meet with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, although he acknowledged that he has yet to be able to schedule a meeting because of Israel's siege of Arafat's headquarters in Ramallah, about 8 miles north of Jerusalem. The secretary of state followed up Bush's Saturday phone call to Sharon with one of his own yesterday to reiterate the president's request that the 10-day offensive begin to end immediately. Israel, Powell said, should begin pulling its troops out of Palestinian cities ''without delay, meaning now.'' Sharon ''understands that message,'' Powell said, but told him nothing about a plan for withdrawing troops and tanks. The stakes are extraordinarily high, Powell said, noting that the Israeli offensive in the West Bank may now be endangering Israel's relationships with all Arab nations in an ''irrevocable way'' as well as creating a greater pool of suicide bombers. ''We may well be radicalizing a new generation, many more terrorists waiting to act once this incursion is over,'' Powell said on Fox ''News Sunday.'' ''We're worried about a lot of things,'' Powell said. No matter how long the Israeli incursion lasts, Powell said, ''whether it ends tomorrow or whether it ends a month from tomorrow or two months from tomorrow, we'll be right back where we are today, and that is a need to find a way for these two peoples to live side by side in two states, a Jewish state called Israel and a Palestinian state called Palestine.'' END Here's a prediction: Israel is not going to pull out until Colin Powell gets to Israel, and probably not until he lands at the Israeli airport. So look for continued incursion in the West Bank. But again, that's not a rocket science prediction now is it. Prime Minister Sharon also stated that even when the crackdown is complete Israel will continue to have a presence in the West Bank acting (security zones) as a buffer to head off any future terrorist attacks. The Arab world is claiming that Sharon is trying to destroy the peace plan that Powell brings before he gets to the region. Sharon, as well as any sane person, believes that the terrorism will continue when the pull back is complete. It won't take long before they resume the terrorism If you get a chance you should look back on some of the developments that lead up to this moment. I have a long list of insights on this website that has come true along the way. But for those who think that I am a prophet, I can tell you that I'm not. I only go by what the Word has told me and identify that with current events. Keep looking at the Middle East and you to will see things correlate with end times Bible prophecy. Pastor Malone
