Strong earthquake (6.2 mag) flattens Turkish villages, kills 61; Haiti, Chile, Taiwan, now Turkey! Is it still just a coincidence?
While speaking before Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and contradicting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Iran was not an existential threat to Israel. He did later clarify what his intended message was--that Iran was not an existential threat to Israel right now, but if allowed to obtain nuclear status they would be in the future.
Frankly, I think this is a dangerous precedent Barak has set before the world community given their desire to just ignore Iran and allow them to secretly become a nuclear nation. But that's probably what will happen anyway and likely what the US is telling Israel they need to accept. Of course, the US has every good intention of protecting Israel, right now, but that will all change when Russia enters into the equation.
Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, described the indirect talks as Israel's last opportunity for peace. Not very encouraging going into talks and it seems that the world is ready to pin the blame squarely on Israel before talks even begin. As you know, the US has already said they would cast blame on one of the two parties if peace talks broke down.
In a recent Israeli report, experts see the US taking a lessened interest in Middle East peace talks in the future. I have to agree with this report. The Bible has never directly linked the US to the final peace agreement (Daniel 9:27) but more toward the EU. The report goes on to say that the US is not necessarily looking to achieve peace this time around but the appearance of success in bringing the two sides back together. It's more of a public relation foreign policy move directed at US voters as midterm elections draw closer.
Whether or not this is the case is yet to be seen. Certainly, many in the international community see the US motives as just the opposite. But if they do fall apart I have to believe Israel is going to receive the lions share of the blame, especially if they continue to okay building projects in areas that will incite Palestinian anger.
Another strong earthquake (6.2 magnitude) has caused the collapse of several villages and killed at last count 61 people in eastern Turkey. Since the start of 2010, Haiti, Chile, Taiwan, and now Turkey have been struck by major quakes. That doesn't even include the multiple aftershocks that have occurred in the aftermath with many reaching into the 5+ magnitude. Certainly, there have been many more earthquakes around the world then these since the start of 2010, but as I said in a previous article, I don't care about an earthquake that strikes in the middle of Siberia and neither does the Lord. The fact that we now have equipment that can tell us when and where the slightest tremor takes place means little to God. That's not what He was referring to when He said that the last days would see earthquakes strike in divers (different) places (Mark 13:8). In my opinion, this series of earthquakes that have caught the headlines is what the Lord has intended for the world to take note of. I do believe that we are living in the time that Jesus predicted would see a continuous flow of earthquakes in populated areas around the world and I look for this trend to continue. One more thing, Mark 13:8 finishes with these words...and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. We are without a doubt experiencing troubles, but the disturbing fact is, these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Friend, these earthquakes are a fearful happening, especially if you are living in these areas, but they are only the beginning of the sorrows to come.
