Question: Could Obama Be The Antichrist, And If Not, Who Will?

Do you think it's possible that President
Obama is the future Antichrist?
Answer
Actually, I don't think anyone can know who the Antichrist is
at this time and that could include Satan. I'm not sold on the
fact that Satan will ultimately choose the Antichrist. It could be
possible that God not only sets the Antichrist in his place of initial power but
also causes him to succeed as a world politician before Satan comes into the
tribulation picture 3 1/2 years later. Let me explain, and remember, this
is only a theory.
When Satan is defeated by God in the heavenly war (Revelation 12:7-13), he will be cast out of heaven and confined to earth. Knowing at this time that his time is short, he will look to rule the earth and turn mankind against God. He will repeat this campaign at the end of the millennial period once he is released from his prison of darkness and placed back onto the earth (Revelation 20:7-10).
His first order of business will be to choose and possess the leader who is best suited to rule the world. Some believe he will possess a world ruler that will be assassinated. He will cause this world ruler to rise again, declare himself to be God, and demand worship (Revelation 13:3). In his anger against God, he will wage war against the Jews and Christians. Through this person, he will rule the world and they will worship him. And God will cause a great delusion to come over mankind that they will be fooled and believe his lie (II Thessalonians 2:1-11).
As far as timing is concerned, it's possible that Satan will not know who his Antichrist or false prophet will be until he is cast out of heaven. If you remember, Satan did not possess Judas until days before Jesus was actually betrayed, crucified, and rose again. It could have been more of a move out of opportunity than any planning on Satan's part.
Certainly, some would argue that Satan strategically placed Judas as a betrayer within Jesus' chosen twelve. But the fact that Jesus knew from the beginning that he would eventually betray Him tells me that all twelve were hand picked by God for a purpose (John 6:70-71). In the end, Judas proved to be the only link to Jesus that Satan could use to finally betray Him. He took that opportunity, but first he had to find the weak link (John 13:1-28).
But getting back to the timeline of events, once confined to the earth, Satan will waste no time in developing his kingdom. Just as he did with Judas, he will search out and possess the very person God hand picked before the worlds were formed to be his Antichrist. This same person will sign a peace treaty with Israel that will begin the tribulation period. In the beginning, Satan may play no part whatsoever in his initial rise to power and that could be the case as far as the midway point of the tribulation period.
So to answer your question, President Obama could be the Antichrist due to the power and position granted him by God in these last days. But others might point to Daniel 9:25-27 as proof that the Antichrist will rise up out of the European Union, and according to Scripture, that could be a strong possibility.
World leaders come and go as circumstances change and it can be swift. We do not know who will be the next world political star of the future. Case in point is Mr. Obama's sudden rise to world power. Who would have imagined the one-time community organizer would rise to the halls of the most powerful position in the world in such a short time. Don't think it couldn't happen again!
One other major factor that we must consider. I can't stress enough how much this world will change spiritually after the rapture takes place. Personally, I believe both the rapture of the church and the beginning of the tribulation period will happen during Obama's presidency, but that's only a semi-intelligent guess. He may ultimately be forced to withdraw from the Middle East peace process to concentrate on the many problems at home. This would leave the door wide open for some other global power (EU) to step in as peace maker. I certainly would not rule this possibility out.
Once the rapture does take place, only God knows which direction the winds of world power will blow. Based on present information, it would be hard to conceive that the US could lose its stature as the sole world power in such a short time. But once Christians are taken from this world things will change forever. The Bible says, speaking of this time, that men's hearts will fail them due to fear, and for looking after the things which will come upon the earth (Luke 21:26). This will be a horrible time that will literally scare people to death.
