In the first suicide bomb attack in Israel for almost a month, Israeli officials say 16 people have been killed in a crowded social club on the southern outskirts of Tel Aviv.

More than 50 people were injured in the attack, which happened at 2303 (2003 GMT) in the town of Rishon Letzion. Several remain in a critical condition.

Initial reports said the militant Palestinian group Hamas was behind the bombing, but this has not been confirmed.

The attack came as Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was meeting US President George W Bush in Washington.

The US is saying the latest attack will not change plans to seek a political solution to the Middle East crisis.

After meeting Mr. Sharon in the White House, Mr Bush said that the Palestinian people needed help if they were to create a state for themselves.

He announced that he was sending CIA director George Tenet to the Middle East to help build a unified Palestinian security force - a force that, according to Mr Bush, would be transparent and held accountable. END

As I stated in previous articles, a multinational army will have to be brought in to monitor peace efforts. The terrorism will not cease nor the incursions into the West Bank and Gaza until this army is developed and deployed.

Look for a heavy retaliation on the West Bank and I think you will hear of a major offensive into Gaza as well. I also believe that Yassar Arafat maybe seeing his power diminishing. Other Arab leaders may have to step in and take control or at least get him back on track so that their ends may be accomplished.

I don't see a peace agreement between the two countries, but I do see an agreement between the eventual antichrist and Israel for protection that the Arab world will find suitable. This will be a neutral army that will control the area and maintain peace. They will stop the suicide bombings and hold the Palestinians accountable. Arab cooperation will be needed and they will be an important part of the process.
