The Obama administration plans to present Israel and the Palestinian Authority with a new outline aimed at ending the Middle East conflict.

The Yedioth Ahronoth daily has learned that the Americans will pressure the parties to sign a framework agreement for a permanent settlement within one year, but that the agreement itself would be implemented within 10 years (Ynetnews.com).

When direct peace talks begin next Thursday, reports indicate that US President Barack Obama will take a personal hands on approach.  He also plans on visiting both Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

A prophetic red flag was raised in this latest develop. Apparently, the goal of the talks is to achieve a signed peace accord first and implement the details over time. Right now, the timeframe for a full implementation of peace is within ten years. The Bible says, in the last days, Israel would sign a peace accord with the Antichrist and many nations that would be implemented over a timeframe of seven years (Daniel 9:27). Certainly, at some point, I believe both sides will settle on a seven-year time limit.

Another thing that should be mentioned. Neither party has a real desire to be at these talks, much less agree to peace. They're only there because the US is demanding that they be there. Here's how the Jerusalem Post writer, Herb Keinon, describes the arrangement:

Imagine a wedding arranged by parents, where neither the bride nor the groom wants to get married to the other, but both reluctantly agree to stand under the huppa only because their parents – upon whom they are both still very much dependent – demand it.

Now you get the picture as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who live 15 minutes from each other, get ready to travel 10,000 kilometers to their “daddy’s home” at the White House to meet and have a wedding neither has convinced his acquaintances he really wants. Both – through close friends – have also indicated they don’t really think will it work out at all (Jpost.com).

In Daniel 9:27, it states that the future Antichrist will "confirm" (make strong) a "covenant with many for one week" (seven years).  I interpret this to mean that the Antichrist will make the parties involved to adhere to the peace covenant by force if necessary.  This seems to be the direction for which these talks are heading.
