Hosni Mubarak not to seek reelection; Is the Middle East ripe for war or peace?
The International Monetary Fund came out today and stated they were ready to tackle the problem of high unemployment in Egypt and in other Middle Eastern countries.
IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn also said rising food prices could have "potentially devastating consequences" for poorer nations, and warned that Asia's fast-growing economies faced a risk of a "hard landing".
Overall, according to the IMF managing director, widening imbalances across and within countries were sparking tensions that threaten to derail the fragile global economic recovery -- and could even spark armed conflict (breitbart.com).
Strauss-Kahn is fearful that tensions between countries and the income imbalance between rich and poor could spark further social uprisings throughout the world bringing to a screeching halt the momentum of a global economic recovery.
"While the recovery is under way, it is not the recovery we wanted," he said.
"It is a recovery beset by tensions and strains -- which could even sow the seeds of the next crisis.
"Food prices are rising too... with potentially devastating consequences for low-income countries," he added.(breitbart.com)."
This report brings to mind a little quoted Bible prophecy regarding the Antichrist. It is believed, when the Antichrist comes on the scene, he will rise in the midst of turmoil and economic uncertainty. In describing some of the attributes of the coming Antichrist, Daniel 8:24-25 brings to light some interesting observations of his future reign:
"And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall
destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the
mighty and the holy people.
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he
shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall
also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without
hand."
In this passage, it states that the Antichrist will be a mighty and powerful leader who will cause craft to prosper. I believe this is talking about the world economy. When the whole world looks to be on the brink of falling headfirst into a monetary collapse, increasing civil unrest, rising food prices and high unemployment, it seems to appear in this passage that the Antichrist will bring the world back into balance. Of course, it also indicates that he will "destroy wonderfully" but I tend to believe that will likely come after peace is taken from the world following the opening of the second seal judgment (Revelation 6:3-4).
Some other characteristics of the Antichrist are intelligent genius (Daniel 7:20), oratorical genius (Daniel 7:20), political genius (Daniel 11:21), administrative genius (Revelation 13:1-2), military genius (Daniel 8:24), and religious genius (II Thessalonians 2:4) (The Popular Encyclopedia of Bible Prophecy, LaHaye, Tim, Hindson, Ed, p. 25).
We are living in such a time where Israel is embroiled in a peace process for which the whole world is attempting to solve (Jerusalem sticking point; Zechariah 12:3) and global unrest threatens to deepen the economic crisis that could plunge the world into war.
I've said this in the past, either this situation in the Middle East is going to settle down and bring peace or it will lead us to a horrifying war. Frankly, I believe (following the rapture of the church) a temporary peace will be next on the agenda. I realize that some believe Psalm 83 describes an Israeli war that has yet to play out. I take a wait-and-see type attitude toward that passage, but certainly, there is a major Middle East war coming.
Are we living in a time ripe for the emergence of the Antichrist? Will he rise and solve the world's economic, military, and social problems?
This just in, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will not seek reelection, a senior Obama administration official tells CNN.
Are you ready to meet the Lord? If not, your time is running out!
