Post Tribulation Rapture!  The Remnant Will Populate The Millennium

Video version of article

For decades, Bible prophecy teachers have been debating over the timing of the rapture. The four most prominent raptures are the pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, seventh trumpet, and post tribulation. All four rapture theories believe, at some point in time before the second coming of Christ, all Christians on the Earth will be caught up in the air to meet the Lord. The rapture is described most prominently in I Corinthians 15:50-55 and I Thessalonians 4:13-18. All four proponents of these theories believe that this event will take place but differ in the timing. Here is a basic description of each as follows. Pre-tribulation rapture believer's state that the rapture will take place before the tribulation period begins and that Christians will come back with the Lord at his second coming. Mid-tribulation rapture believers state that the rapture will take place at the middle of the tribulation period. In this theory Christians would be raptured at the mid-way point of the tribulation before God's wrath is poured out. Although, they would go through man's wrath, which takes place in the first half of the tribulation period. Finally, both the seventh trumpet and post-tribulation raptures happen toward the very end of the tribulation period just before the return of Christ. Both theories teach that Christians should be prepared to go through most, if not all, of the tribulation period for which they will suffer persecution for the faith.

For this discussion, I will only be addressing the pre-tribulation rapture and the seventh trumpet and the post-tribulation rapture theories. In looking at these theories side-by-side, there appears to be a discrepancy. In the flow of a commonly accepted tribulation period timeline, you would see the Antichrist signing a peace accord with Israel to begin the tribulation period, followed by the seven sealed judgments, the desecration of the Temple by the Antichrist at the midway point, the seven trumpet judgments, the seven bowl judgments, the Second Coming of Christ, the judgment of the nations, and the 1000 year Millennial Reign of Christ. Most all rapture theorist embrace this skeleton tribulation period timeline inserting their rapture where they believe it will take place.

One of the major discrepancies pre-tribulation rapture believers point out is "if Christians who are alive today go through the tribulation period (not raptured before) then who will Christ (and the Saints) rule over when He comes to reign for one-thousand years on earth (Millennium)? According to you if the rapture and the Second Coming occur at the end of the tribulation period who will be left on the earth for us to reign over? You must remember that I Thessalonians 4:13-18 says that every Christian will be raptured who is on the earth. The Bible also says that everyone outside of Christians will take the mark mark, and it's clear they will be executed at the Coming of the Lord. With that said, who will be left on the earth to enter the Millennium?"

To combat this question, many post-tribulationalist have pointed to the Jewish remnant who will flee to Petra at the midway point of the tribulation and be protected by God unto the end of the tribulation period. They are protected for the very purpose of entering the Millennium and repopulating the Earth. But pre-tribulationalist contend, only those who are saved and have not taken the Mark of the beast will be allowed to enter the Millennium. And the Bible is clear, by the midway point of the tribulation period everyone will have taken the mark of the beast or received Jesus as Savior (Revelation 13:8).

However, post-tribulation rapture believers do not believe that the Jewish remnant will be saved during the tribulation period, but that the Bible supports they will be protected, still in spiritual blindness, only to be saved after their eyes are opened at the second coming of Christ. But, if in fact they are saved, this would create a major problem for both the seventh trumpet and the post tribulation rapture theories in that, when their rapture does occur, it would leave no Christians left to enter into the Millennium to repopulate the Earth. Here is what one post-tribulation rapture believer states in defense as to why he believes the Jewish remnant will not be saved until after the post tribulation rapture takes place, and they see Jesus:

In this case, the new doctrine created to stand as "Biblical" proof for a pre-trib' rapture is that the Jewish remnant is saved during the tribulation period. The word "desperation" comes to mind, for there isn't one scripture to back that doctrine up against all the scriptures that clearly show otherwise. Someone please tell Hal (Lindsay) that the Jewish remnant will not be raptured at the post-trib' Return, for there are an abundance of scriptures showing that these Jews are not saved until after Armageddon, weeks after the rapture. These Elect Jews enter the Millennium, therefore, in their mortal bodies. Following is an incomplete list of scriptures from Isaiah alone showing that the Jews who populate the Millennium are not saved until after the wrath of God has been poured out on them. And we also know that His wrath will be on the Jews for the 42 months just previous to the Lord's Armageddon appearance.

  • Isaiah 4:2-6
  • Isaiah 5:5-30
  • Isaiah 28:1-6
  • Isaiah 29:1-24
  • Isaiah 30:19-30
  • Isaiah 49:19-26
  • Isaiah 51:11-52:2
  • Isaiah 54:8-15
  • Isaiah 60:15-22

In Zechariah 12:10, where it tells us that certain Jews...at Jesus' return...will look on the One they have pierced, it also tells us that "the land shall mourn, each tribe apart" (Zechariah 12:12). (Taken from http://www.tribwatch.com/popmill.htm)

He goes on to say that at this time the eyes of the Jewish remnant will finally be opened for the first time to Jesus as their Messiah. They will at this time repent and accept the Lord as their Messiah. Jesus in his mercy will pardon their spiritual blindness and grant them entrance into the Millennial kingdom to repopulate the Earth. After all, that was the purpose behind God protecting the remnant in the first place. All others who are not raptured at the post-tribulation rapture, but took mark of the beast, will be executed and cast into the Lake of fire (Revelation 14:9-11).

This argument seems to provide a good explanation as to why the Jewish remnant would not be raptured at the post-tribulation rapture (leaving them on earth to repopulate the millennium) due to the fact that they will not be saved until the appearance of Jesus their Messiah.

This would be a perfect theory if Scripture to the contrary did not stand in the way. Remember, direct Scripture always takes precedence over indirect "what if" Scripture. Let's be clear, nowhere in the Bible does it say the Jewish remnant that flees to Petra are unsaved. In fact, the Bible says just the opposite. Here is a Scriptural account that more than proves, when the Jewish remnant does flee, they will flee as believers in Christ.

And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.  And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Revelation 12:13-17).

When the Jewish remnant flees to Petra at around the midway point of the tribulation period, verse 17 above says, "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."  This verse plainly says that the Jewish remnant are already believer's in Jesus Christ before they get to Petra.

Frankly, you don't have to look at a list of "what if" misinterpreted Scriptures in the Old Testament when you have directly related Scriptures that speak specifically of the exact event to determine the truth.

The truth of the matter is, if the rapture does take place at the seventh trumpet or post-tribulation there will be no Christians left on the Earth, including the Jewish remnant to enter the millennium to repopulate the Earth. This would only leave those who have taken the mark of the beast and worshiped the Antichrist. The Bible is clear they will be executed and cast into the Lake of fire without exception.

However, the most bizarre outcome of this video will be, after viewing this, there will still be a multitude of seventh trumpet and post-tribulation rapture believers who will continue to live in denial of the truth and post their arguments in my comment's section regularly.

But for those who have run into this question, I hope I have explained it in a way that you will be able to give a reasonable defense in the future.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
