WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush was expected this week to lay out a
framework on how to create an independent Palestinian state with a constitution
and a unified security force.
Bush's vision, which could include a recommendation for a provisional
Palestinian state with temporary borders and limited sovereignty, could be
announced as early as Tuesday or Wednesday.
But even as the president prepared to announce his plan, another suicide
bomber struck Tuesday in Jerusalem, killing at least 18 people on a crowded bus,
police said. As many as 50 others were reported injured in the attack claimed by
the militant Islamic Hamas group.
The London-based Arabic daily al-Hayat, meanwhile, reported that Washington
had informed Egypt of the outlines of Bush's plan for an independent Palestinian
state, and a Middle East peace conference.
The newspaper said the proposal included "a sovereign independent
Palestinian state in areas A, currently under Palestinian Authority (PA) control
and B, under PA civil control and Israeli security control."
"The state will have a seat at the United Nations and have global
recognition, and it will be the negotiating party (in talks with Israel),"
the paper said.
Areas A and B cover around 40 percent of the West Bank, which Israel captured
in the 1967 Middle East war. Palestinians want the West Bank -- including East
Jerusalem -- in a future state.
An "international meeting" would also be held in Washington in
September, on the sidelines of a United Nations General Assembly meeting, the
newspaper said. It would include Syria and Lebanon, and countries involved in
the Saudi peace initiative adopted by an Arab summit in March that called for
Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 borders in return for peace with Arab states.
But whether Bush would lay out a specific timetable for an independent state
of Palestine remained unclear.
Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, who spoke to Bush by phone on Sunday, said
Monday a timetable was needed and that he hoped it would be realized by the end
of Bush's first term, which ends in January 2005.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who met Bush at the White House a week
ago, said Sunday "the conditions are not ripe" for the establishment
of any kind of Palestinian state.
In outlining a path for development of a Palestinian state, however, Bush was
likely to recommend moving beyond Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority.
Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, said on Friday the
current Palestinian Authority is "corrupt and cavorts with terror,"
triggering an angry retort from Arafat.
The U.S. president has declared himself disappointed in Arafat's leadership
and failure to do more to halt the recent onslaught of attacks against Israel.
At least 18 dead were reported in Tuesday's suicide bombing, including
commuters and high school students, and authorities warned of other possible
attacks.
Israel Sunday started building a 70-mile (110-km) fence aimed at stopping Palestinian suicide bombers. END
The plan of President Bush is the beginning of what will come to pass very soon. The plan is hoped to be in play before the end of 2005. It’s hard to say if it will take that long or can take that long. The continued suicide bombings are getting deadlier as the months go on.
Actually, I don’t see bush as the coming antichrist. He may develop a form of the plan and the antichrist may enhance it or make it or take it a few notches higher. Whoever he is, he will be directed (controlled) by the U.S. but will eventually strike back and destroy her.
Look for continued suicide bombings. This will escalate the need for a plan. It’s in God’s time and planning. Not that God is causing these bombings, but He is allowing Satan to carry them out.
President Bush will be presenting a plan for Palestinian statehood this week. I don’t see Israel excepting the plan. Palestine will have to end the bombings before a plan will be reached. Many Arabs believe that Israel will finally give in if the suicide bombings continue. I don’t believe that will happen, but they will come to an agreement soon and East Jerusalem and a Jewish temple will be a part of the deal.
Don’t look at the headlines to see how far away the rapture is, it could happen at any moment. The rapture is not dependent upon circumstances or events at this point. Many events can change after the rapture takes place that can alter the entire world. I believe that there will be a time period between the rapture and beginning of the tribulation period. This time period may be when the antichrist rises in power as the EU comes to the forefront. The Russian/Arab attack on Israel may also take place during this lapse of time.
By the way, India and Pakistan will one day go to war, but it maybe during the time lapse or after the tribulation period begins. Once nuclear weapons are used, and they will be used during the tribulation, other countries will not be so hesitant to use them.
