I've Been Saved, Backslidden (Several Times), And Saved Again! Am I Really Saved This Time?
I've been born again, and have back slid several times turning to the former
ways. I kept trying to be a good Christian but things in my heart and mind just
were not settled. I was baptized in water and tried everything that I could to
be right with God. But I still slid away.
I'm trying again and I'm asking God to really help me. Am I saved after all
this?
Answer
I believe anyone who calls on the name of the Lord with a sincere heart to
serve Him is saved forever (Romans 10:13). I also believe that not
everyone who calls on the Lord is saved (Matthew 7:21) but those who do His
will. These two statements my seem to contradict, but actually, they
don't. If you are saved, the Lord will give you a heart to seek and do His
will. You don't have to try anything.

43: I Keep Getting Saved Over And Over Again: Am I Really Saved?
The Christian life is a commitment and always goes against the grain of the
flesh. Everyday the flesh and the Holy Spirit within you are battling for
control of your will. That's why it is very important for you to immerse
yourself in the Word of God and seek the Lord in pray daily. It is
critical that you align yourself with a Bible believing church and commit
yourself to being there every time the doors are open or whenever possible.
Stop making excuses and commit yourself to these principles. Many times we
let our desires (worldly pleasures) get in the way of being committed to God and
His service. Don't let that happen to you.
Are you saved now? Yes, if you committed your life to the Lord.
That's the only way He will take you. Salvation is not fire insurance. It
never has been. As a Christian, you have been sanctified and set a part to
produce good fruit (John 15:1-5) not just survive here on earth. I would
encourage you to get with a church and get involved.
If you want your heart and mind to be settled with the Lord you will need to do
His will. You may ask, "What is the will of God for my life?"
If you seek Him with all your heart, He is more than happy to tell you what His
will is for your life. But that's usually where many Christians fall
short. They want to be saved but they don't want to get too saved to the
point that it interferes with their will and desires. You must commit your
life completely to the Lord or you will always have trouble jumping in and out
of the Christian life, and you will always doubt if you are truly saved.
Not seeking the Lord wholeheartedly will always give place to the devil.
His goal for all Christians is to keep them frustrated and discouraged.
His number one way to accomplish that...keep them dabbling in sin and constantly
remind them of their failures. Most Christians crumble under the weight of
this constant attack never seeking to make it right with the Lord. You
need to always remember I John 2:1-2, "My little children, these things
write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with
the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." There is always forgiveness
through Christ Jesus when we fail as Christians. Too many times we walk away
instead of seeking restitution.

Question# 18: How We Can Know We Are Saved.
My advice, stop trying to live for the Lord and start seeking how to live for the Lord. When you fail, seek Him sincerely and ask forgiveness, but continue to seek His will. That is a life long journey (relationship) that isn't always easy.
I hope this has given you peace regarding your faith in the Lord.
