"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the Son of God." I John 5:13
From this passage of scripture, true believers are to know that they have eternal life. Eternal life is a free gift from the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
"For the wages of sin is death, but, the gift of God eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
We know for sure that we have eternal life, when we receive Jesus Christ, God's only be gotten Son, as our Lord and Savior. Eternal life is a wonderful experience. It brings transforming power into our lives. "Whereby given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature…II Peter 1:4. God creates in us a new nature. It is divine and it changes lives, and our actions. Very little change may be noticed at first, but as we read the Bible, pray, and fellowship with other Bible-believing Christian's, the change will come. If you are a young struggling Christian, faith is your greatest possession. "For by grace are you saved; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." Ephesian 2:8. Faith comes from the Lord. "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith..." All of our physical senses will fail us, but we can trust the Word of the Lord.
I know that I was saved April 7, 1957. God did a creative work in my life instantly. Just as the new baby is born, at that moment I was saved for eternity and Jesus Christ became my Savior and my Lord. For 41 years I have never doubted my new birth experience. My life radically changed over the years.
Remember, the Lord is the author and the finisher of our faith. We know we are saved "By his grace through our faith". And it is all His work alone in our lives as we receive by faith His gift of eternal life.
Many times in our lives satan will try to rob us of our salvation that was given so abundantly by God. He can not, nor does he have power over this gift, although many Christian's have fallen into his trap of guilt. Every time you sin, or keep making the same mistake time and time again, satan will be there to accuse you. He is the accuser of the brethren and will do so as often as you allow him to. But that doesn't mean that you are not a Christian. Jesus will never accuse you of anything, but will gently convict you of your sin. When you confess your sin, He immediately forgives you, although, you must reap the consequences of that sin. Satan will never let you forget it, but Jesus has already forgotten it.
Don't allow satan to keep lying to you. But at the same time, don't give place to the devil to plant seeds of doubt in your mind. Harboring sin and wrong attitudes in your heart will always produce feelings of doubt and frustration in your life. Turn your life and doubts over to the Lord, and allow Him to free you from the sin that so easily besets (causes you to stumble) you. As long as you have a breath to breathe, it's never too late to make things right with God. You don't have to doubt your salvation anymore. Jesus is always there if you will only let Him take over complete control of your life.
Pray with me now: Jesus, I give to you my life, my worries and my doubts (name them all). I confess my sins (name them) and believe that you have forgiven me of those sins. I now turn my life and all areas that continue to entangle me over to you totally and completely. I put my trust in you that you are the author and finisher of my faith. In your name I believe and pray Amen.
If you prayed this prayer and meant what you said, I am convinced Jesus will perform a new work in your life.
