'LARGEST' ANTI-WAR PROTESTS IN HISTORY OF EUROPE

LONDON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - More than six million demonstrators turned out across the world on Saturday in a wave of protest supporting international leaders in urging the United States not to rush into a war against Iraq.

From Canberra to Cape Town, from Karachi to Chicago, people from all walks of life took to the streets to pillory President Bush as a bloodthirsty warmonger in the biggest demonstration of 'people power' since the Vietnam War.

Strategy Said To Include Delay, Urban Battle

(NY Times) - Iraq's strategy to thwart a U.S.-led attack calls for slowing American troops' advance toward Baghdad and then confronting them with the prospect of a bloody street battle in the Iraqi capital, according to American intelligence. To impede American and allied forces, Saddam Hussein's administration has developed plans to blow up dams, destroy bridges and ignite its oil fields, American defense officials say.  They say Iraq may also deny food to Iraqi civilians in the southern parts of the country to try to create a crisis that would saddle advancing allied forces with the responsibility of caring for millions of desperate Iraqi civilians.

Blair Agrees More Time Needed For Iraq Inspections

GLASGOW, Scotland (AFP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair, pinned down by growing domestic and international resistance to a US-led war on Iraq, accepted to give UN inspectors some more time to ferret out Saddam Hussein's alleged stocks of weapons of mass destruction.

In his first reaction to Friday's crucial report to the UN Security Council by chief UN arms inspector Hans Blix, Blair said the United Nations must remain at the forefront of global efforts to rid Iraq of suspected chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

What do you say to war?  What do you say to death?  What do you say to peace?  This was the battle cry of the peace rallies held all over the world.  Of course, nobody wants war, but the alternative is much more dangerous.

It's amazing that none of the peace groups have come up with an alternative plan for war.  I'm shocked that there are people in this world who actually believe that if we leave Iraq (or North Korea) alone they will not create weapons of mass destruction and eventually use them on us.  I would love to hear their alternative plan.

Tony Blair is taking a very big political gamble in following President Bush into this war.  Many in Britain are against the U.S. and Britain going to war without U.N. approval.  This could prove to be disastrous politically for Mr. Blair and hence would probably have to be eliminated from consideration as the future antichrist.  But I will stick with my belief that he is a strong candidate for now.  I still believe, after it's over, that he will come out of this stronger than he went in.

Iraq's war strategy seems to be to blow up the oil fields, scorch the land, and destroy all the bridges and damns.  Oh, and let's not forget about his threat to cut off the food supply to those who live in the southern part of Iraq.  He's banking on starving them to disrupt troop movement.  His strategy is to play on the compassion of the American and allied troops to feed and shelter them.  That will place them in immediate need of care and may delay the march to Baghdad.

This latest calculated plan of Saddam has received little press and it's a wonder that nobodies up in arms over his lack of compassion for his people.

But what does all this have to do with the endtimes?  Well, it's simple!  I Thessalonians 5:1-3 states that in the last days the establishment of world peace will be a major desire of that day.  This is what it says:

"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of this world, lasting peace will never be accomplished until the Lord comes and rules.  But this is certainly a sign of the last days and a step closer to the eventual time that Christian's will be united with the Lord.
