have a 16 year old son who 4 years ago accepted Jesus, but
since then he has turned his back, he was baptized and
followed Jesus for awhile, will he be saved or will he have
to endure the tribulation? Is he still considered a child or
is he of the age of accountability? Also I want to be sure
that I am doing what Jesus asks of me, how am I to really
listen I do not want to be left behind? If you can answer
any of these it would be a great help. Thank you Angela Answer Dear Angela I can't evaluate a person's personal relationship with the Lord, that's
between the person and God. I look at it this way, if he's not living for
the Lord right now I would consider him lost. I know that's not what a
mother wants to hear but he may not have really gotten saved. I would
approach the situation with that in mind. Because not everyone that say's
Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of God, but only those who are doing
the will of the Father (Matthew 7:21). If he's not doing the will of the
Father he's probably not saved. I don't take much stock in those who claim
to be backslidden. They may find out they made a horrible mistake when they
face God. I would pray for him as if he were lost. Telling him he's saved,
but backslidden, doesn't do anyone any good. It's better to be safe than
sorry. I pray God will bring your son back to His saving power. Now to answer your question regarding how to listen to God. This is a very
important question and many well meaning Christian's have no clue as to it's
answer. People listen to God in many ways. God can tell you a great deal
of things through His Word. Many neglect God's Word because they don't
believe in its power to guide their lives, and of course, out of laziness. Listening to God usually takes
an act of faith and patience, although, it doesn't always require great
faith and patience, nor is it always on our schedule or timetable.
Therefore, many look for the easy way out or some shortcut that will met
their goals quickly. Another way God gives direction is through others around you. Of course,
any advise one may give should always line up with the Word and that person
should have Godly character. I'm not saying that an unsaved person is
incapable of giving sound advice, but that he/she is coming from an entirely
different perspective-the world. Last but not least, when you hear God's voice and are obedient, you will always
receive a peace that surpasses all understanding. This is God's signal to you that are in the will of God. Here is a verse to live
by. "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are
called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
(Colossians 3:15 & 16) I hope this has help you in some way. Pastor Malone
