"Israelis, who see the good in closer relations with the EU, see a European political and military umbrella to protect them." This is almost verbatim what J. Dwight Pentecost, noted prophecy expert, said would be behind the reasoning for Israel's interest in becoming a member of the E.U. almost fifty years ago (1958). I put a lot of stock in what these old time Bible believing preachers/teachers had to say because they did not allow education to muffle what the Spirit was telling them. Don't get me wrong; education is good if the educator is screwed on right. Personally, I never thought I'd see the day that Israel would think that they needed someone to protect them. After all, they do have one of the best militaries (5th or 6th) in the world and rumor has it they are a nuclear power.
Israel is working hard and making very tough concessions to make peace with its Arab neighbors all in the hopes of becoming a part of the E.U. What's even more shocking is that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is leading the charge. Daniel 9:24-27 did say that it would be a Roman ruler (or ruler from a country within the Old Roman Empire) that would sign a peace agreement with Israel in the last days. I would put this man high on the list of candidates, although I still have Tony Blair as the top chose for the eventual leader.
Both North Korea and Pakistan are accidents waiting to happen. You can look for them to be a part of the nuclear holocaust that will occur sometime at the beginning of the tribulation period (Revelation 6, seals 2-4). One-quarter of the world's population will be destroyed in a moment. I can't image what kind of shape the land and water supply will be in after that. It is said that one suitcase nuclear bomb would render New York City uninhabitable for many years. Once this war ends where will the survivors go or will they just eventually die from radioactive poisoning?
There's been a lot of talk going around that President Bush may have lied to the American people about Iraq trying to buy uranium from an African nation. Of course, this is nothing more than a pre-election smear campaign. This war was never about any one specific infraction but about coming into compliance with their agreement with the U.N. They were given plenty of chances and would not cooperate with U.N. inspectors unconditionally. Besides, gathering intelligence at this level isn't always one hundred percent verifiable until after the invasion. They will find weapons of mass destruction in time. They've already found the mobile weapons labs. What do you think they were for and why on earth would they have to be mobile?
It's unfortunate that despite common knowledge and commonsense some of our leaders are still trying to persuade the American people that the Iraqi war was not necessary. I can only shake my head at their hypocrisy. Ironically it has been discovered that the source of the errant intelligence came from the French. No doubt this will serve to be a little embarrassing, but might force them to crawl back to where they came from once again in disgrace.
