Sharon:
Israel On Verge Of Diplomatic Breakthrough "I believe that we are on the verge of
making a breakthrough and entering a path of peace and quiet," he told
delegates at an economic forum in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz will
meet senior PA security officials next week. His meeting follows meetings
between PA officials and Amos Gilad, the head of the Political and Security
division of Israel's Defense Ministry.
Sharon said Israel was holding talks with
Palestinian officials that are not on the political level of Prime Minister
Ahmed Qurei.
"We are in contact with Palestinians,
however not of the level of prime ministers," Sharon said.
Prime Minister Ariel
Sharon said Thursday night that he believes Israel is on the verge of a
breakthrough in diplomatic talks with the Palestinians.

Israeli Officer Says Tactics Are Backfiring
(Washington Post) - Israel's senior military commander
told columnists for three leading newspapers this week that Israel's military
tactics against the Palestinian population were too repressive and were
fomenting explosive levels of "hatred and terrorism" that might become
impossible to control. In remarks that suggest a dramatic split with the
approach of the current government, Lt. Gen. Moshe Yaalon, chief of staff of the
Israeli armed forces, said that crackdowns, curfews and roadblocks in the West
Bank and Gaza Strip were crippling the lives of innocent Palestinians and that
the military's tactics were now threatening Israel's own interests.

Israel claims to be on the verge of a diplomatic breakthrough. It's possible, but it isn't the peace treaty with the antichrist. Although, I do believe that it will be connected since E.U. membership requires that a potential candidate have no running feuds with another country. They must solve their regional problems first.
Personally, I don't believe they are that close to solving their problems in the Middle East. Actually, I think it will take an eleventh hour deal by the future antichrist before it will happen. It will also include Israel becoming a member of the E.U. or at least lead in that direction. I am convinced that Israel believes it needs a strong partnership with a bloc of countries such as the E.U. for protection and security. They will jump at the chance to be included.
Where does the seven-year peace treaty come in? It maybe in the form of a conditional membership or neighborhood agreement, which I have discussed in the past. A trial basis, if you will, to see how things workout between the Arab world and Israel. It will be a success for 3 1/2 years as the Bible declares.
Another thing that you may want to take into consideration, although things seem to be heading toward a soon rapture, I don't believe that the Lord intends to completely unfold His hand until after we are gone. Meaning, things will probably go on as normal up to the day Christian's are taken from this earth. The endtimes have taken slow steps up to this point but will kick into high gear when were gone.
