A HIT: Israeli-U.S. Laser Downs Long-Range Missile In Test...
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A
laser beam under joint Israeli-U.S. development destroyed a long-range rocket
for the first time in a test in the skies over the American Southwest, Israel's
Defense Ministry said on Friday.
Israel has sought an effective defense against ballistic missiles since 1991 when Iraq launched Scuds into the Jewish state during the first Gulf War. It has since developed the Arrow anti-ballistic missile with U.S. funding.
"This is a significant step forward," a ministry spokesman said of the test on May 4 of the "Nautilus" Mobile Tactical High Energy Laser (MTHEL) held at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

U.S. Prepares For Israel Strike On Iran
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has been examining the prospect that
Israel will attack Iranian nuclear facilities in an attempt to prevent the
Islamic republic from completing an atomic bomb as early as this year.
U.S. analysts and government sources said the Bush administration has discussed the prospect of an Israeli air strike at several levels of government. They said the issue has been examined in terms of the diplomatic, military and security implications for the United States, particularly its military presence in Iraq and the Persian Gulf region.
The issue of Iran's nuclear weapons program was discussed by President George Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon during the latter's visit to the White House on April 14. The sources said the two men were alone during the brief discussion in an effort by the president to gauge a likely Israeli response to the completion of an Iranian nuclear bomb.
Comments
The U.S. and Israel has developed a laser beam that has destroyed a long-range
missile. This is significant since it is the only effective anti-nuclear deterrent
of its kind. With the potential ability to destroy a warhead before it
reaches their borders, this significantly neutralizes the nuclear threat of
their enemies. This is a major military advancement for both Israel and
the United States.
As this laser beam technology is developed it will play prominently in the future. Will it eventually render nuclear weapons obsolete? I hope so for the world's sake, but I doubt it. Something will kill one-quarter of the world's population during the tribulation period (Revelation 6).
According to the above article, Israel is quietly contemplating an attack on a number of Iranian nuclear facilities in an attempt to keep them from developing an atom bomb. I do look for this to happen. When? That's difficult to say, but probably before the end of 2004 if they really believe Iran has this capability.
The E.U. is trying desperately to get the peace talks back on track. This is a futile attempt and they'll stumble around for years until the Lord sees fit to solve this problem.
