E.L. Doctorow Booed After Anti-Bush Speech
NEW YORK - Author E.L. Doctorow, who penned "Ragtime" and "City of God," was stunned when his commencement address at Hofstra University was booed by some students angry at his criticism of President Bush.

"I thought we were all supposed to speak out," he told The Washington Post in Tuesday's editions. "Isn't that what this country is about?"

In a 20-minute address to graduates at the Long Island school on Sunday, the novelist criticized Bush's tax cuts, anti-terrorism policies and the Patriot Act, but focused mainly on what he called Bush's "untrue" stories about the war in Iraq.

Al-Qaida Said Almost Ready To Attack U.S.
(AP) - Al-Qaida is determined to launch a U.S. attack in the next few months that could be linked to a major event such as the upcoming international economic summit or the summer political conventions, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Wednesday, citing "credible intelligence from multiple sources." Ashcroft noted that following the March 11 train bombings in Madrid an al-Qaida spokesman said the terrorist organization's plans for an attack on America were 90 percent complete.

Putin Fights Off 'Authoritarian' Charges...
President Vladimir Putin fought off charges of leading an "authoritarian" regime and vowed to make Russia's economy catch up with the West in an annual address that notably skirted the two crises of his leadership - Chechnya and the imprisonment of Russia's richest man.

In his first state of the nation address since re-election to a second term in March, Putin told his allies and other dignitaries in the Kremlin's posh Marble Hall that Western governments unfairly viewed his leadership as autocratic.

But he also vowed to pursue the war in Chechnya that he launched more than four years ago and which now appears to be headed for further chaos with the recent assassination of the pro-Moscow leader Akhmad Kadyrov.

He left no hint as to who he might want to see as Kadyrov's successor in elections scheduled for August 29.

Author E.L. Doctorow was booed for his anti-Bush comments he made as the keynote speaker at Hofstra University.  Afterwards, he expressed shock because he felt as an American he was guaranteed freedom to speak out.  He just didn't realize that that street went both ways.  As American's we have the right to boo if we disagree.  I applaud the students of Hofstra University for taking a stand against the misinformation of the liberal media.  

Mr. Doctorow just doesn't get it or refuses to speak the truth.  This war was never about attacking Iraq but about forcing them to stay in compliance.  They refused to allow international inspectors to do their job freely so the U.S. and their allies did what any responsible group of countries would do...remove the offender. Frankly, it doesn't matter whether we ever find weapons of mass destruction.  It was their responsibility to stay in compliance and they failed to do so.  You're living in a dream world if you think this will be the last time the U.S. will have to confront another country over nuclear weapons.  They're very close to a face off with both North Korea and Iran. 

Speaking of the upcoming presidential election.  Is Bush a better leader than Kerry?  Probably not!  Will Kerry change things if elected?  Don't count on it!  But as far as the Bible is concerned any candidate who takes a stand for abortion disqualifies himself from receiving a Christian’s vote no matter what other issues he may support.  I'm sure I will receive a few negative emails for saying this, but God's statues take precedence over any issue.  The liberals would like to change the subject but we need to stick to the truth of the Word.
