LONDON (Reuters) - Oil's record-breaking rally
lifted U.S. crude beyond $52 a barrel on Wednesday, fueled by the impact of
Hurricane Ivan on U.S. winter inventories.

Former Czech President Vaclav Havel and 100 international figures have signed a
letter criticising reforms proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Mr Havel's aides say the signatories include former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, US Senator John McCain and philosopher Francis Fukuyama.
The letter has been sent to the heads of all European Union and NATO states.

JERUSALEM - A top aide to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was quoted as saying
Wednesday that Israel's planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip is intended to
block Palestinian statehood indefinitely and claimed the policy had U.S.
backing.

Arab nations demanded in a draft U.N. Security Council resolution Monday that
Israel immediately halt its incursion into the northern Gaza Strip, where
fighting has left at least 65 Palestinians dead.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat said Tuesday he was prepared to
step aside and become "the Palestinian Nelson Mandela", but added that
he would do so only after the establishment of a Palestinian state .
Comments
The world is just now waking up to the two faces of Russian President Vladimir
Putin. Putin is and always will be KGB. You can bet he longs for the
good old days of the Cold War. He's not alone! Actually, the United
States would rather worry about an intelligent foe such as Russia than the
terrorist's that inherited a portion of their nuclear arsenal.
Speaking of Russia, as you know, the Bible says they will soon rise up and attack Israel. It also states that the reason behind their attack will be to take a spoil (Ezekiel 38:12). Many have contemplated as to what this great treasure will be, but I am convinced it will be oil. I believe that Israel is on the verge of uncovering the greatest oil discovery the world has ever known. With the price of oil reaching new heights, I believe God is about to bring in a new player on the oil market and they won't be controlled nor welcomed by OPEC. The riches that will come from this discovery will bring Russia out of greed and the Arab world out of hate. But God will use this as an occasion against Israel's enemies.
Inside Israeli sources are saying that the Gaza Plan (withdrawal) is just a diversion to prevent or slowdown the creation of a Palestinian state and the U.S. is secretly backing it. That would be surprising if were indeed the case. Palestinian statehood has always been a major goal for the U.S. Have their goals changed in these last days?
Yasser Arafat has said that he would be willing to step aside, but again he's said that before. At some point he will either be forced out or phased out by his own people.
