Israel
Heads For War With Syria
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's military has been preparing for the
increasing prospect of a war with Syria in a confrontation expected to
include Iran and Hizbullah.
The General Staff has discussed an assessment by the military's Northern Command of an emerging threat from Syria and Hizbullah over the next year. Northern Command said a weakened Syria, under pressure from the United States to withdraw from Lebanon, was likely to approve an Iranian-Hizbullah campaign against Israel.
Military sources said this assessment was the latest by several senior officers who envision a major war with Syria by 2007. The sources said Iran and Syria have used Hizbullah to weaken Israel strategically and erode its morale. The sources said the General Staff has not discussed an Israeli strike on Iran.

Blair Prepares
To Placate EU Fears Of US-Style Capitalism
2005-06-20 03:23:33 In the wake of the failed EU summit in Brussels,
Prime Minister Tony Blair was reported Monday to be drafting a speech to the
European parliament that aims to placate fears he favours US-style capitalism.
EU
Summit's Collapse Over Budget Hints At 'Deep Crisis'
The EU has lurched deeper into crisis after member states failed to approve a
new long-term budget at their Brussels summit. France blamed Britain for the
breakdown, as London refused to accept any reduction in its annual rebate. But
the Netherlands and Sweden also blocked a deal on the 2007-13 budget, seeking
cuts to their high contributions. The collapse was preceded by an extraordinary
offer by the 10 new member states to give up some of their subsidies to sway
Britain and the other objectors.

Oil Prices Surge Near $60 A Barrel
NEW YORK - With oil prices marching to new heights of close to $60 a barrel, the
president of OPEC
said Monday the group will consider raising its output ceiling by half a million
barrels as early as this week.
Goss
Has 'Excellent' Idea Where Bin Laden Is
NEW YORK - The director of the CIA says he has an "excellent idea"
where Osama bin Laden is hiding, but that the United States' respect for
sovereign nations makes it more difficult to capture the al-Qaida chief.
In an interview with Time for the magazine's June 27 issue, Porter Goss was
asked about the progress of the hunt for bin Laden.
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries raised its output target by that amount just last week, though the move appeared to have little impact on prices, which have risen by more than $10 a barrel in the past month because of concerns about limited refining capacity and rising demand for gasoline and diesel.
Tough Days Ahead For UK Presidency Of The EUComments
Israeli
senior officials have come to the conclusion that there is a very high
probability they will be involved in a major war with Syria by the year
2007. They also note that the war will more than likely include Iran and
terrorist group Hizbullah.
It's possible that Israel could get into a short war with Syria and Iran that is not mentioned in the Bible. I realize that many believe that any battle with Israel from this point on would have to be mentioned in Bible prophecy. Not necessarily! Israel has had more than a few battles in their recent fifty plus year history that were not mentioned in the Bible. But this is an eye opener and sheds light on the very real possibility of a war that the Bible predicted for the last days could take place in the near future.
Apparently, the CIA has an excellent idea where Osama Bin Laden is, but is holding off on capturing him because he is held up in Pakistani territory. As you know, Bin Laden has claimed to have the ability to detonate a nuclear bomb inside the U.S.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was in the Middle East over the weekend to reach an agreement for cooperation for the upcoming Gaza withdrawal. It seemed as though both sides were happy, but after the agreement was reached, Palestinian officials indicated that they were disappointed with the results. The plan is still expected to go forward despite the ongoing violence in the region.
Crude oil has hit the $60 a barrel mark despite increased production from OPEC. I'm not sure where the ceiling is for this latest surge in oil prices, but if and when Israel does discover oil they stand to become very wealthy in a very short period of time.
In about two weeks UK Prime Minister Tony Blair will takeover the helm of the E.U. It will be interesting to see what happens under his six month watch. If you are a regular reader of mine you know that I feel Mr. Blair is a suspect to one day lead the E.U. as their permanent leader. I would keep an eye open to see what transpires in the next six months.
China has put the U.S. on notice that they are not one to play games with militarily. Last week, China test-fired the Ju Lang-2 missile, a modified version of China's Dongfeng-31 intercontinental ballistic missile. It is believed that it was launched from a nuclear submarine.
U.S. officials definitely believe this missile system is a major threat because it is hard to detect, precise and much more maneuverable.
For years the world has underestimated China as a potential threat. The Bible predicts the worst is still yet to come regarding this country. It's generally believed that China will be the country that will march from east to west during the tribulation period destroying everything in its path (Revelation 16:12-14).
