Israel Edges Away From Palestinian Vote Ban

Israel edged away from a ban on voting in east Jerusalem in next month's Palestinian parliamentary election in order not to give leader Mahmud Abbas a pretext to delay the ballot.

Poll: 78 Percent Of American Jews Believe Arabs Seek The Destruction Of Israel, Not Return Of Occupied Territories
Most American Jews (78 percent) believe that the goal of the Arabs is not the return of occupied territories but rather the destruction of Israel, a new annual survey of The American Jewish Committee revealed.

Who Needs Jerusalem, Anyway?
All the lines have been crossed.

Advisors of Ariel Sharon have let it become known that Sharon is prepared to make concessions (retreat) to the "Palestinians" on Jerusalem (courtesy of Yediot Achronot): "American magazine Newsweek quoted pollster Kalman Gayer as saying that Sharon is willing to concede 90 percent of the West Bank and parts of Jerusalem for the establishment of a Palestinian state with a capital in Jerusalem."

Not only has Sharon crushed the dream of Greater Israel, but the dream of a United Jerusalem is about to be shattered, as well.

"Palestine" Will Never Come Into Existence
"Palestine" will never come into existence. One would think the opposite is true, what with the Roadmap endorsing it and all members of the Quartet supporting it, even to the point of giving a pass to Arab violence, the end of which is supposed to be a pre-condition to the establishment of such a state.

The US is backing the plan because it wants to curry favour with the European Union, which is demanding a resolution of the "occupation" and the refugee problem. This is the price the US must pay to get European support in the war against terrorism and for the war in Iraq. Paradoxically, the Europeans care not a whit for the Palestinians. The EU lavishes billions on the Palestinian Authority without requiring that the money be spent to improve the lives of ordinary Palestinian Arabs, content to allow the money to be used to support terrorists and to line the pockets of kleptocrats at the head of the PA. In effect, the Europeans support Palestinian terror and not the peace process.

The main reason Palestine won't come into existence is that the Arab Palestinians don't want it, nor does Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia or Egypt, notwithstanding protestations to the contrary.

Ever since the Palestine Mandate was created, the Arabs have resisted the Zionist enterprise and Britain has supported this resistance. They rejected the Partition Plan in 1947. They rejected the State of Israel when it was declared in 1948, with the support of the US State Department, and invaded Israel en masse. In 1964, they created the PLO, dedicated to destroying Israel. They massed for invasion again in 1967 and, after being soundly defeated by Israel, they rejected Resolution 242. Instead, they passed a resolution in Khartoum that advocated "no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it."

On Christmas, Pope Prays For Mideast Peace
VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI marked his first Christmas as pope Sunday, calling for the "signs of hope" in the Middle East to be confirmed by actions on the ground and urging peace in Darfur, Sudan, the Korean peninsula and elsewhere.

Thousands of cheering tourists and pilgrims braved a chilly drizzle that turned into a downpour to hear Benedict's first Christmas message, which was delivered from the same balcony of St. Peter's Basilica where he uttered his first public words as pope.

Russia Deploys New Set Of Strategic Nuclear Missiles...
The chief of Russia's strategic forces on Saturday attended the deployment of a new set of state-of-the art intercontinental ballistic missiles, boasting of their capability to penetrate any prospective missile defense, news reports said.

Col. Gen. Nikolai Solovtsov, chief of the Strategic Missile Forces, took part in a ceremony that marked the commissioning of the latest set of Topol-M missiles at a missile base in Tatishchevo in the Volga River's Saratov region.

Ho, Ho, Ho: Jovial Sharon Dispenses Diet Tips, Decides On Gaza "No Go"
Israel will enforce a new off-limits zone in the Gaza Strip with artillery, helicopter and gunboat fire, its latest response to rocket attacks on Israeli towns. If enforced, the aerial barrage would mark some of Israel's toughest military action in Gaza since it withdrew from the coastal strip in September. PA officials on Friday promised to send in more security forces to the border area to prevent the rocket attacks.

Israeli Military Could Stop Iranian Nukes
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- An Israeli or U.S. air strike could halt or suspend Iran's nuclear weapons program.

A report by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies asserted that a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities was feasible. The report, authored by the center's director Efraim Inbar, said the military marked the only option left against Iran.

"Diplomatic efforts have failed to halt Iran 's nuclear program," the report said. "As the Iranian acquisition of a military nuclear ability nears, the threat of using force, and even the actual use of force, seem to be the only viable preventive measures."

Israel Prepared For 'Collapse' In PA

JERUSALEM - Israel is prepared for a possible "collapse" in the Palestinian Authority that could render Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas incapable of imposing law and order, a senior official said Sunday.

Another barrier is about to topple that would not only bring a Palestinian state close to reality but could pave the way for East Jerusalem to become the capital city of Palestine.  Apparently, both the Arab League and the Palestinian Authority have petitioned the Pope to help put pressure on Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon denied that he would ever allow Jerusalem to be divided. He stated this after a staff member leaked that he would if it would bring peace to Israel.

There’s no question in my mind that at some point after the elections Prime Minister Sharon will agree to divide Jerusalem.  You can bet his denial was made so not to upset voters in his bid for re-election in March of 2006.  If he wins, it won’t be long after that he will annexes East Jerusalem as the new Palestinian capital.

In a recent poll, about fifty percent of Israelis said they would be willing to give up East Jerusalem if it would bring peace.

Personally, I believe that this so-called leak was orchestrated just to see what the reaction would be if such a proposal were presented.  If Ariel Sharon is re-elected it will serve as a mandate to go forward with turning over East Jerusalem to the Palestinians.

For years I’ve said that when Israel does divide Jerusalem they would also be given the right to rebuild their temple and West Jerusalem would become their capital.  It will be interesting to see if this does become a reality as part of the deal.  If so, we will be witnessing prophecy unfold before our eyes.  As you know, the Bible says that the temple will be rebuilt in the last days and will be desecrated by the antichrist three and one half years into the tribulation period (Isaiah 66:1-6, Daniel 9:27).

In another sign of the times Israel has backed down from prohibiting Arab residence in East Jerusalem from voting in the Palestinian parliamentary elections.  This is a bad move and will show the world that East Jerusalem should become a part of Palestine if Israel acknowledges their right to vote in their elections.

A report by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies has come to the conclusion that an air strike on Iranian nuclear facilities is not only feasible but maybe the only viable option left.  I have to agree, and outside of divine intervention, this maybe their next and only move.

Read the article titled Who Needs Jerusalem, Anyway?  This pretty much tells the story of what the Israeli administration could have in mind for the immediate future for Jerusalem.
