Doctors
for Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon are optimistic but caution that he is
still in critical condition and could be in the hospital for months.
Obviously, he’s out of the race for Prime Minister, but who will lead Israel? As you know, the elections are in March of this year. This is what a recent Israeli poll said:
“An
opinion poll published on Wednesday in Haaretz newspaper showed continued strong
public support for Sharon's new centrist Kadima party if Olmert, his 60-year-old
deputy, leads it into a March 28 general election surveys predict it will win
easily.
Olmert scored high in
the latest poll on the question of credibility and suitability to fill Sharon's
shoes as prime minister, besting right-winger Benjamin
Netanyahu of the Likud party and
Labour leader Amir Peretz.” http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060111/wl_nm/mideast_olmert_dc_1
Ex-Jerusalem mayor and interim Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert looks to be a strong frontrunner. He also plans to follow through with Ariel Sharon’s policy to split Jerusalem and give away the majority of the West Bank to the Palestinians.
Olmert has been there from the beginning when Israeli policy shifted from defending their land to land for peace. He also played a major role in testing the waters to see how Israelis would react to a complete Gaza pullout. He believes that Israeli territories that have a heavy Arab population should be given back as part of a Palestinian state because they will eventually outnumber Israelis and lead to problems.
I have to agree. Whether you believe it or not, due to the high birthrate among Arabs living in Israel, they could conceivably out number Israeli Jews within a generation. And yes, contrary to what many believe, Israeli-Arabs do have voting privileges. Take a look at this information regarding Israeli-Arab voting rights.
“Arabs in Israel have equal voting rights; in fact, it is one of the few places in the Middle East where Arab women may vote. Arabs currently hold 8 seats in the 120-seat Knesset. Israeli Arabs have also held various government posts, including one who served as Israel's ambassador to Finland and the current deputy mayor of Tel Aviv. Oscar Abu Razaq was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Interior, the first Arab citizen to become chief executive of a key government ministry. Ariel Sharon's original cabinet included the first Arab minister, Salah Tarif, a Druze who served as a minister without portfolio. An Arab is also a Supreme Court justice.” http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myths/mf18.html
I have to believe that Mr. Olmert will win the March 2006 elections and proceed with Prime Minister Sharon’s plan. This will fall in line with the desires of the U.S. and the remaining members of the quartet. Of course, anything can happen between now and the elections, and certainly, someone else could emerge as the victor.
A word about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadineja comments on the soon return of the Muslim Messiah. He said in an article by www.worldnetdaily.com titled Iran Leader: Islam To 'Rule The World' - Urges Muslims To Get Ready For Coming Of 'Messiah' that the Shiite Messiah, Mahdi, is returning soon to redeem his people (Muslims).
He further states
this is why he’s trying to build Iran into a great military power and an
advanced society in preparation to ‘rule the world’ when the Mahdi does
come. Sources close to Ahmadineja
say the Mahdi will probably return within the next two years.
After
reading this article I had a reader email me who said he believed the antichrist
would be a Muslim. I agree it’s
possible that the future antichrist could be a Muslim.
That would certainly solve the problem of acceptance for one billion plus
Muslims.
Midway
through the tribulation period the antichrist will desecrate the (future) Jewish
temple. I have to believe this
event, along with signs and wonders that will be displayed (Revelation 13) will
convince the Muslim world that he is their long awaited Messiah.
It should also be pointed out that by this time he probably will have
killed God’s two witnesses (Revelation 11) and destroyed what the Arab world
considers the great satan (United States; Revelation 17-18).
At some point, whether in the first or the second half of the tribulation
period, he will lead a campaign against Christians (and Jews) slaughtering
millions.
But
where will he emerge? I believe the
scriptures are clear that he will come out of the European Union which is
believed by most prophecy experts to be the New Roman Empire described in Daniel
two. With the spread of Islam
throughout the E.U. it is very possible that the antichrist could be a Muslim.
But there still lies one major problem! In describing the attributes of the antichrist, the Bible says that he will not “regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.” (Daniel 11:37) If this is correct, and we know it is, he will not regard the god of his fathers (if Muslim-Allah) and will exalt himself above every god including the God of heaven. I can’t imagine this would go over very well among Islamic nations and would be considered blasphemy punishable by death.
That leads to the only conclusion I can come up with. It won’t matter what religion he comes out of. The antichrist will be supernaturally charged by satan, and more importantly, directed by God to do His will. He will be unstoppable and certainly will not need to be endorsed by the Muslim world to succeed.
We should also remember that God will be in complete control of every situation during the tribulation period. He isn’t playing it by ear to see how things unfold…He already knows well in advance In fact, during His prediction of the antichrist in Daniel 11:36 He states just that.
“And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.”
If it’s written in the Bible it shall be done. Yes, there will be a rapture (I Thessalonians 4:13-18) no matter when you believe it will take place. Yes, there will be a tribulation period, and yes, the antichrist will rule. This will all happen and cannot be changed under any circumstance…“for that that is determined shall be done”.
Are you ready to meet
the Lord? If not your time is
running out!
