Comments
Russia and China are attempting to persuade the U.N. that sanctions against Iran are not necessary to solve the nuclear standoff.  Evidently, they are working on Iran as well.

Today, Iran asked the E.U. to come back to the negotiations table for another round of talks.  But Javier Solana, High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, said they would not meet unless Iran had something new to say.

"There's not much sense in having another meeting if there's nothing new" in Iran's stance, Solana said, emphasizing that efforts now are focused on the upcoming meeting of the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency.

"I think the EU has already — France has already responded concerning whether or not they think it would make any sense to have discussions with the Iranians at this point. And my understanding is they believe it would not," added Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who met with Solana in Washington. "It's the Iranians who walked away and I'm sensing from the Europeans that there's not much to talk about."  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,182019,00.html

Any time Iran and nuclear weapons are mentioned in the same sentences Ezekiel 38 & 39 has to come to mind...especially when they've already stated that Israel needs to be wiped of the face of the earth.

Personally, I see Iran giving into Russia and China...at least for now.  Of course, we know that in the near future Russia (along with much of the Arab world) will lead an attack against Israel.  The Bible says the attack will take place in a time of peace (Ezekiel 38:11, 14) for Israel and Russia's motive will be to take a spoil (Ezekiel 38:12).  At this point, Israel definitely is not experiencing a time of peace nor do they have much to plunder, but that could all change if they discover oil as many Bible scholars believe they will.  Don't look for this situation to go any further.  I really believe Iran will give into international pressure.  They'll probably elect to go deeper underground to achieve nuclear aspiration.

Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that he is committed to the U.S. backed Road Map initiative and hopes that following the elections they will be able to come to a more permanent solution.  But it would only happen on the condition that the Palestinians disarm terrorist organizations.

After the U.S. blasted the P.A. about Hamas' probable role in the new government, Hamas is starting to become more politically correct toward Israel.  Here's what Hamas leader Ismail Hanieh recently had to say regarding their longtime threat to push Israel into the sea:

“Hamas is not hostile to Jews because they are Jews. We are hostile to them because they occupied our land and expelled our people,” Ismail Hanieh said.

“We did not say we want to throw the Jews in the sea or feed them to sharks. We just said that there is a land called occupied Palestine. It was burglarized and it needs to be returned to the Palestinian people,” Hanieh added. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3202007,00.html

I look for other terrorist groups involved in the new P.A. government to tone down their rhetoric toward Israel as well.  In fact, we may even see terrorist groups disarm for the sake of creating a Palestinian state.  But don't be fooled as the world is.  This will be a temporary sign of good faith by the terrorist groups that won't last.  In the end, they will turn on Israel just like the Bible predicted over two-thousand years ago (Ezekiel 38 & 39).

Here's a passage I find fascinating and on the verge of fulfillment.  In Revelation 11:1-2, John is commanded to measure the future temple of God in Jerusalem.  This proclaims that there will someday be a third temple built on the temple mount.  But strangely, God tells john not to measure the outer court because the gentiles will possess this area.

Today, we now that Israel has given away its rights to the temple mount because they consider the Dome of the Rock (gold domed building on mount) a Muslim holy site.  But during the tribulation period the Bible says that Israel will be allowed to rebuild their temple on a portion of the temple mount, but the the rest will be owned by the gentiles or non-Jews which is the case today.

Right now there is a proposal circulating that would hand control of the temple mount and the holy sites over to the international community.  At this point, it has been flatly rejected, but as we draw closer to Palestinian statehood, look for the international community to take control of the the temple mount.  They (or the antichrist) in turn will allow Israel to rebuild their temple on a small portion of the mount.  The rest will go to the Muslims.

This Biblical prediction was written back in 95 A.D. and it's remarkable at how close we are to seeing this come to pass.  In these last days the gentiles still possess the temple mount despite the fact that Israel regained control of the Old City and the Temple Mount in the 1967 Six-Day War.  Following the war, many in Israel wanted to rebuild the temple and absolutely should have.  But Israeli government officials bowed to international pressure and Jews were banned from the site despite their miraculous victory.

Whether we Christians will see the temple rebuilt on this side of the rapture is unclear, but I find it truly remarkable that the Bible predicted a split possession of the temple mount almost two-thousand years ago despite Israel regaining complete control in these last days.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
