Hamas has hinted that they would be interested in a long-term truce if Israel will return to their 1967 borders.  I don't see that happening, although nothings out of the question, but it's interesting that in these last days a truce of this magnitude would be suggested.  Is it possible that this truce could turn out to be the seven-year peace accord that the antichrist will confirm?  Of course, this is only speculation and certainly anything can happen in a very short amount of time. I would keep this in the back of my mind though.

If you didn't know, the European Union is becoming a much bigger player in the Middle East talks.  The reason...they are far and away the leading financial supporter of the Palestinian Authority.  But today, they decided, along with the quartet, that they would go forward with their proposed funding.  What makes it more shocking is that Hamas didn't have to give up one thing in order to get it.  They're still allowed to maintain the same goals but now they have a ninety day grace period.  At the end of this period they will be re-evaluated, but under what criteria they will be judged was not made known.

In the end, I do believe that Hamas will either be forced out or forced to get in line with the world's expectations.  There are just too many power brokers involved, and for once, they're all on the same page.  But this is a serious show of weakness on the part of the E.U. and the remaining members of the quartet.

Due to the European Unions stake in the P.A. this sudden turn of events has given them the lead negotiating role in the Middle East peace talks.  With this in mind, it makes a lot of sense that they would play a major role in shaping the future peace plan.  I don't believe the antichrist is visible yet, but when he does come on the scene, the E.U. will be in perfect position for him to present his plan to the world.  They will have the leverage to force the Palestinian government to fall in line and the Israelis will welcome it with open arms.  When I use the word 'force', I don't believe they (Palestinian government) will be entirely happy with the plan but they will accept it in view of the big picture.

Iran presented their modified nuclear plan to the E.U. today.  They have indicated they need more time to iron out a possible joint venture with Russia.  They're hoping that the U.N. Security Council will give them until March when the next IAEA board meeting takes place.   Russia has threatened a possible veto if the U.S. pushes to hard for U.N. sanctions at this juncture.  I'm not sure Israel will let this threat go until March.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
