Saddam
General: WMDs In Syria
Another former confidant of ex-dictator makes claim, also links Iraq to
al-Qaida
A former general and friend of Saddam Hussein who defected but maintains close
contact with Iraq claims the regime supported al-Qaida with intelligence,
finances and munitions and believes weapons of mass destruction are hidden in
Syria.
Ali Ibrahim al-Tikriti, southern regional commander for Saddam Hussein's Fedayeen militia in the late 1980s, spoke with Ryan Mauro of WorldThreats.com.
Known as the "Butcher of Basra," al-Tikriti commanded units that dealt with chemical and biological weapons. He defected shortly before the Gulf War in 1991.
Last month, Saddam Hussein's No. 2 Air Force officer, Georges Sada, told the New York Sun Iraq's weapons of mass destruction were moved to Syria six weeks before the war started. Sada claimed two Iraqi Airways Boeing jets converted to cargo planes moved the weapons in a total of 56 flights. They attracted little attention, he said, because they were thought to be civilian flights providing relief from Iraq to Syria, which had suffered a flood after a dam collapse in 2002.

Sees Hamas Victory As Reversible
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. intelligence community has assessed
that Hamas could be removed from power in the Palestinian Authority.
Officials said an assessment by the CIA has concluded that the Hamas victory in elections for the Palestinian Legislative Council on Jan. 25 did not mean that the Islamic movement would control the PA over the medium or long term. They said the agency presented several scenarios in which Hamas would fall from power over the next year.

Surprise!
Another former Saddam Hussein confidant has said that not only did Iraq have
contact with Al-Qaeda they supported them. And that's just the beginning!
Saddam Hussein's No. 2 Air Force officer, Georges Sada and former general and
friend Ali Ibrahim Al-Tikriti say that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction were
moved to Syria six weeks before the start of the second Gulf War. Sada claims two Iraqi Airways Boeing jets
were converted into cargo planes and it took fifty-six trips to complete
transporting them. They were able to
complete their mission undetected because the flights were thought to be
humanitarian relief for Syria who at the time had suffered a flood following a
dam collapse in 2002.
Al-Tikriti, who defected to the U.S. after the
first Gulf War, also had this to say:
Al-Tikriti
says he knows Saddam's weapons are in Syria because of contingency plans
established as far back as the late 1980s, in the event either Damascus or
Baghdad were taken over.
"Not
to mention, I have discussed this in-depth with various contacts of mine who
have confirmed what I already knew," he said.
Saddam,
after lying for so many years, knew the U.S. eventually would come for the
weapons, he said, and wanted to maintain legitimacy with pan-Arab nationalists.
Also,
he had "wanted since he took power to embarrass the West, and this was the
perfect opportunity to do so," al-Tikriti said.
"After
Saddam denied he had such weapons, why would he use them or leave them readily
available to be found?" he said. "That would only legitimize President
Bush, who he has a personal grudge against."
What
we are witnessing now, he said, "is many who opposed the war to begin with
are rallying around Saddam saying we overthrew a sovereign leader based on a lie
about WMD. This is exactly what Saddam wanted and predicted." http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48827
This certainly is no surprise to me, but
truthfully, it really doesn't matter. What most around the world fail to
realize is Iraq was in total defiance on so many levels from firing daily on
coalition aircraft to blocking United Nations WMD inspectors from doing their
job.
Now Iran is beginning their journey down that
same road which may bring an air strike from Israel in the near future. It
will be interesting to see how the world will prevent this attack from
happening. I don't see an all out war just yet since the Bible predicts
that a Russian-Arab assault on Israel will take place for the purpose of taking
a spoil (Ezekiel 38:12). At this point, I don't see much of a spoil coming
out of Israel.
As reported in yesterday’s article, the U.S.
and Israel are plotting to overthrow Hamas. Hamas is claiming foul and is
looking for world support on this issue. But the U.S. and Israel claim
they are playing by the rules but may not play nice. A recent U.S.
intelligence community assessment claims that in time Hamas could be removed
from power.
Officials
said an assessment by the CIA has concluded that the Hamas victory in elections
for the Palestinian Legislative Council on Jan. 25 did not mean that the Islamic
movement would control the PA over the medium or long term. They said the agency
presented several scenarios in which Hamas would fall from power over the next
year. http://www.menewsline.com/stories/2006/february/02_15_1.html
It is possible Hamas could be voted out of
office if unrest develops within the Palestinian people. It's one thing
for a terrorist group, who are being supported by the Arab world, to say they
don't need aid from the E.U. and the West, but entirely different for a
struggling country to make that claim. Without outside aid, I can't see
Hamas going very far unless the Arab world really steps up with a long-term
commitment. I don't foresee that happening, and with Israel and the U.S.
not cooperating (probably instigating), it's going to be that much harder
especially with the issue of transportation between the West bank and Gaza.
Quite frankly, they need Israel to make it work.
This weekend Hamas will takeover power in the Palestinian Authority. In many ways it will be like the Mafia taking charge of the White House. I guess we'll find out if a group of organized killers can run a country without "whacking" someone.
