Iran
has threatened the U.S. with 'harm and pain' for their part in bringing them
before the U.N. Security Council over its nuclear program.
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said on Wednesday if the Security Council fails to take appropriate steps to halt Iran's nuclear weapons program they will. When asked if that meant military force Mofaz replied, "My answer to this question is that the state of Israel has the right to give all the security that is needed to the people in Israel. We have to defend ourselves".
Personally, I just can't see this situation going away. Israel and the U.S. are dead serious about making sure Iran does not become a nuclear power and I don't think they will blink when push comes to shove. It is conceivable that the West and/or Israel could be embroiled in another war within the next thirty to sixty days even if the U.N. Security Council does impose sanctions.
Does the Bible support such a war? I don't believe there's a reference in the Bible that speaks of a future war just between Israel and Iran. Of course, Ezekiel 38 & 39 states that in the last days, when Israel is living in peace and safety within their land, they will be attacked by an Arab alliance lead by Russia. It is not inconvincible, if Israel were to attack Iran, that the whole Arab world would come crashing down on them. But at this time, I don't see where Russia fits into the picture, especially when the Bible says their main purpose for getting involved will be to take a spoil. But again, we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. Soon we will see where this will end up.
Hamas' prime minister-designate, Ismail Haniyeh, has been named as a potential target for Israel's assassination squad. If you didn't know, Israel has one of the best, if not the best, team of assassins in the world. If they mark you for assassination you're essentially already dead.
Whether or not Israel is serious about their threat remains to be seen. After all, they made the same threats toward the late Yasser Arafat.
This would definitely cause a major international scandal that would bring an outcry much greater than the Syrian assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. But with the world easing into accepting Hamas as a legitimate political party I don't see it happening. I would however, keep it in mind.
Speaking of Hamas...Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has called on the world to be patient with the new Palestinian government to let it moderate. He believes, in time, they will line up with world expectations. In the meantime, they have become a safe haven and new capital of terrorists.
Israel has learned that Al Qaida has setup a cell in the Palestinian territories since the disengagement from Gaza back in August of 2005. In fact, they (Al Qaida) claim that a major Al Qaida figure will be revealed in the very near future. Who that will be is unknown but they allege he will be as high ranking as overall terror chief Osama bin Laden.
Israeli intelligence has also found out that Hamas is secretly building an army for the purpose of launching a future holy war against Israel. I find it amazing that given the evidence against Hamas and their intentions that many countries still want to recognize them. But this is all in God's plan to gather all the Arab nations and terrorist groups in one place so He may one day destroy them.
Let's not forget about North Korea. They've completely backed away from the negotiations table and have resumed expanding their own war machine. We will hear from them in the very near future as well.
The H5N1 bird flu strain is spreading across Europe and is said to be more of a threat than aids. Experts have warned the U.S., Canada and Australia that they should not expect to escape the grasp of this deadly virus. Lord help us if a major war were to break out during its advance. That would only serve to magnify the speed of the spread of this bird flu strain.
Are you ready to meet the Lord? If not, your time is running out!
