Iran President Hints At Exiting Nuclear Treaty
TEHRAN, Iran - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hinted Monday that Iran was considering withdrawing from the worldwide Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and said he did not think the U.N. Security Council would impose sanctions on Iran. "Those who speak about sanctions would be damaged more" than Iran, he told a news conference. "But no particular event will happen, don't worry."

Three Blasts Rock Egypt's Sinai Resort City
CAIRO, Egypt - Three explosions Monday night rocked the Egyptian resort city of Dahab and there were casualties, police said.

Shootout In Gaza Amid Power Tussle...
GAZA Dozens of Hamas members rushed to the aid of a cabinet minister on Sunday after he was confronted by angry gunmen, provoking a shootout that left three people wounded in the latest infighting in the Gaza Strip.

Abbas Warns Hamas He Can Remove Gov't
ANKARA, Turkey - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview broadcast Monday that he has the authority to remove the newly elected Hamas government from power, and he warned the government it had little choice but to negotiate with Israel.

Mubarak: Israeli-Palestinian Summit Premature...
CAIRO - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said in an interview published Monday it was too early to plan an Israeli-Palestinian summit, stressing the need to settle internal Palestinian disputes first.

"It is too early to talk about a Palestinian-Israeli summit in Sharm el-Sheikh to revive the peace process and resume discussions between both parties," Mubarak told the state-owned daily Al-Gomhuriya.

Jordan King: Israel Must Disarm Nukes
Jordanian King Abdullah said his country is interested in a nuclear-free Middle East and urged the international community to pressure Israel to dismantle its nuclear arsenal.

"If the world is demanding Iran doesn't develop nuclear weapons it should also demand that countries which possess nuclear weapons disarm," Abdullah said in an interview to Spanish newspaper El Pais. "For peace to be achieved in the region, Israel has to disarm its nuclear weapons."

Iran Says US To Be Humiliated If It Attacks
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's defense minister said on Monday that any U.S. military attack over its nuclear programme would result in a humiliating defeat for the United States, the official IRNA news agency reported.

He was speaking on the anniversary of an attempt in 1980 by the U.S. military to rescue Americans held hostage in the U.S. embassy in Tehran. The mission failed when the helicopters crashed in a sand storm in the Tabas desert in eastern Iran.

Iran: Nuke Program 'Irreversible'
TEHRAN, Iran  — Iran said Sunday its nuclear program is irreversible, issuing yet another rejection of a U.N. Security Council deadline to cease enriching uranium that expires in five days.

Earlier this month, Tehran announced for the first time that it had enriched uranium using 164 centrifuges, a step toward large-scale production of nuclear fuel that can be used either in atomic weapons or in nuclear reactors for civilian electricity generation.

Cashing In On 6-6-06...
Anyone living and driving in L.A. the past few weeks has seen them. Looming over the city, black and ominous, the billboards and posters announce "You Have Been Warned" and "The Signs Are All Around You." Each is anchored with the date "6/6/06."

Drop the "0," and you get 666. That's "the number of the beast," according to the New Testament's Book of Revelation, just one of many interpretations though all of them are dark and frightening. For some Armageddon believers, it represents the date upon which the Antichrist will spread universal evil over the Earth.

Comments
The date 6/6/06 has been popping up as a date of prophetic interest.  I had a reader email me asking about this date as a possible time when the Lord would come and rapture the church.  Actually, the Lord could come at any moment.  This fact serves to keep Christians living in the will of God.

But getting back to 6/6/06.  I don't see this date meaning anything in prophecy, and certainly, it has nothing to do with the future antichrist no matter what Hollywood may dream up. The truth of the matter is we're living in the final hour regardless of what gimmick may surface.

Another Middle East country is calling for Israel to disarm its nuclear arsenal.  This time it's Jordan.  I don't see Israel laying down their weapons any time soon but I certainly wouldn't rule it out in the future.  It would be ridiculous and plain irresponsible for them to give up their nuclear weapons but I do see a time when satan will deceive them into believing in his lies of protection.  This time will probably come during the tribulation period as a condition that will bring about peace and security for Israel.

As I look around I literally see trouble brewing in virtually every corner of the world from Africa to the Middle East to North Korea.  Just today, Egypt was hit by terrorist bombs in three different resort areas where it is believed that as many as 100 people are dead.  On top of that, Osama bin Laden is back with a new tape threatening the West and civilian targets, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that it is only a matter of time before Israel is destroyed.  This is a very dangerous time we live in (II Timothy 3:1) with wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6).

The other day, it was reported that many intelligence experts fear that Russia is moving back toward a state of secrecy much like the old Soviet Union.  I have news for them...they're already there they just don't know it.  I have to say I saw this coming back in the mid to late 1990s.  Here is an excerpt of an article I wrote just after Vladimir Putin was named president of Russia back in January of 2000:

An end of an era has come in Russia, and it came as little surprise to me. Boris Yeltzin, Soviet President throughout most of the 90's has resigned. In the midst of allegations of massive corruption within his inner-circle and reports that his health was failing, President Yeltzin sadly announced his resignation on Friday, December 31st, 1999.

"The president said Russia needed to enter the next century with "new politicians [and] new faces." And first among them, he made it clear, was his current prime minister, Vladimir Putin, who in his five months in office has ridden a vicious war in the breakaway region of Chechnya to widespread popularity. Putin will function as acting president for three months, in accordance with the Russian Constitution. New presidential elections will be held on March 26, three months ahead of schedule. "I have no doubt," Yeltsin said in endorsing Putin, "what choice you will make."

Most believe that Yeltzin chose Putin as his successor due to an agreement that he and his family would be granted full immunity of any wrong doing that may have occurred during his time in office. It has been alleged that Former President Yeltzin has millions stashed away in foreign bank accounts under the names of close associates and businessmen.

But who is Vladimir Putin? What is known about him? Will he continue to push forward the democratic philosophy that Boris Yeltzin began a decade ago or is the slide back to communism just a matter of time? "Is Vladimir Putin at heart a democrat, a trustworthy custodian of Russia's newly won civil liberties? Or is he what Russians call a "Chekist," a true believer in the ways of the secret police?

Putin's biography is sufficiently sinister to ensure that the scrutiny will be intense. Born in St. Petersburg in 1952, he graduated from a law academy there and signed on immediately with the KGB. He spent years in East Berlin, engaged mostly in political espionage. Smart and hardworking, he made lieutenant colonel in the KGB and retired with that rank in the late 1980s. In 1990, he joined the staff of St. Petersburg's first democratically elected mayor.

It was common practice back then for KGB helpers to infiltrate new civic bodies in order to glean information and influence events. Whether that was Putin's role is not clear. What is undeniable is that as he moved up the chain of command in St. Petersburg, he impressed people. Anatoly Chubais, a former deputy prime minister and market reformer, says Putin had no trouble grasping economic complexities that left other Soviet-era apparatchiks befuddled. Even some prominent human-rights activists from the Soviet era are willing to give Putin the benefit of the doubt. "People learn and change," says Larisa Bogoraz, who served seven years in Siberia for "anti-Soviet activity." "We all know democrats who turned out to be criminals. So there may be KGB officers with understanding of democratic values."

In his first speech as acting president, Putin insisted there would be no backsliding on any of the key political liberties won in Russia's decade of democracy. "Freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of the press, the right to private property-these basic principles of a civilized society will be protected," he said. Those were the right words; but at the same time there is no doubt that Vladimir Putin is proud of his past. Last month at a party celebrating the 25th wedding anniversary of a former FSB chief, Yevgeny Primakov-a former prime minister and KGB alumnus-proposed a toast. "Those of us who consider ourselves Chekists, stand up," Primakov said proudly. Nearly everyone got to his feet-Russia's new president included."

Granted, I'm not a prophet, but this is what I see for the year 2000. Russia will return to their old communist roots, although it may not be official. Eventually, they will return to communism in full strength. They will also form a stronger alliance with the Arab block nations, leading to what I believe will be the beginning stages of the Russian/Arab attack prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39.

Vladimir Putin is a wolf in sheep's clothing and his only agenda is to bring back a police state to Russia. One of his first actions as president was to clean house of the previous administration, which included firing the former president's daughter. It's only a matter of time before the communist philosophy is in full swing and Russia returns to its former Soviet Union.  For complete article go to:  Article# 6: Prophecy Alert: New Russia And The Threat That Will Come.
