Bush
Vows To Protect Israel From Iran
US President George W. Bush has provided Prime Minister Ehud Olmert with a
strong American commitment to protect Israel.
Olmert
Brands US Visit 'A Success'
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's visit to Washington was
"excellent," officials in the PM's entourage said immediately upon
landing in Tel Aviv Thursday evening, adding that the White House summit gained
important diplomatic benefits for Israel.
Olmert:
Jerusalem Jewish, Inclusive, And United
"An eternal covenant exists between the people of Israel
and Jerusalem. It will remain uniquely ours. We will guard the holy places and
allow freedom of religion. It has never been so open and lively," said
Olmert in his speech.
Moussa:
Reconsider Arab Peace Plan
According to Arab
League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, the Israelis got the Arab peace initiative
of 2002 all wrong. He should know. "I drafted it," he said.
In an exclusive interview with The Jerusalem Post, which took place here the day after the closing of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, Moussa spelled out the conditions for that initiative, conditions which he said would allow the Israeli government to engage in a substantive peace process. Notably, he spoke of the possibility for territorial adjustments along the Green Line.
Iran
Seeks Anti-U.S. Axis
NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran aims to form an axis of powerful nations against
the United States.
Officials said Iran has sought to recruit a coalition that would oppose U.S. interests in the Middle East and Central Asia. They said the alliance would include nuclear powers.
Iran
Says Would Hit Back Against Any US Attack
May 26 10:00 AM US/Eastern
"In the event that Americans attack Iran
anywhere, Iran will respond with an attack in that place," he told a joint
news conference with Iraq's new prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki.
Report:
Russia To Supply Iran With Anti-Aircraft Systems
Russian
Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov on Friday reiterated Moscow's commitment to
supply Iran with sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles, local news agencies
reported.
"If there are no extraordinary circumstances, it (the contract) will without doubt be fulfilled," Ivanov was quoted as saying.
Defense Ministry officials have previously said Moscow will supply 29 sophisticated Tor-M1 air defense missile systems to Iran under a $700 million (565 million Euros) contract, according to Russian media reports.
The move was likely to upset the United States which last month called on all countries to stop all arms exports to Iran and to end all nuclear cooperation with it to put pressure on Tehran to halt uranium enrichment activities.
Hamas
Looking To Fly Planes Into Buildings
JERUSALEM – Hamas is seeking the ability to attack Israel using
small airplanes laden with explosives to be flown 9-11-style into
important targets, possibly Tel Aviv skyscrapers, Abu Abdullah, a leader
of Hamas' so-called military wing, told WorldNetDaily yesterday.
Abbas
Calls Terrorists "Our Heroes"
Just two days after PM Olmert called him a "very
decent human being" who is "opposed to terror," PA Chairman
Mahmoud Abbas call Palestinian terrorists "our heroes."
Comments
U.S. President George Bush has given Prime Minister Ehud
Olmert a very strong commitment to protect Israel. In a joint news conference
Tuesday he said that "Israel is a close friend and ally of the United
States, and in the event of any attack on Israel, the United States will come to
Israel's aid. The United States is strongly committed, and I'm strongly
committed, to the security of Israel as a vibrant, Jewish state." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?c=JPArticle&cid=1148482037182&pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull
At the present time that maybe true but there will come a day when the U.S. will abandon their commitment to Israel when Russia teams up with the Arab world and attacks them (Israel). Even as we speak, Iran is seeking to form an anti-U.S. axis. They claim it will include major world powers such as Russia, China and India. In fact, Russia just agreed (knowing the U.S. will be furious) to supply Iran with sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles. As far as prophecy is concerned this axis is totally Biblical and probably has already been formed (Ezekiel 38 & 39).
According to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert "An eternal covenant exists between the people of Israel and Jerusalem. It will remain uniquely ours. We will guard the holy places and allow freedom of religion. It has never been so open and lively". http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3255240,00.html
In a speech in Jerusalem, Mr. Olmert seemed to give assurance to his listeners that he had no intention of giving up East Jerusalem. But without East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital I can't see peace going forward...and it will go forward...but not until the antichrist comes on the scene.
According to Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, Israel got the 2002 peace proposal completely wrong. Mr. Moussa, the architect of the peace initiative, said Israel needs to take another look at the proposal.
In March 2002, the Arab League made an offer to Israel in a seven-point document, also known as the Beirut initiative. All 22 Arab countries agreed to full peace with Israel in exchange for a "full Israeli withdrawal from all the territories occupied since 1967," the acceptance of a sovereign Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital and the achievement of "a just solution to the Palestinian refugee problem in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 194."
Israel ignored the offer, dismissing it as unfeasible. "We have two main problems with it," a Foreign Ministry official said this week. "One, it contradicts the road map by predetermining that the borders between Israel and the Palestinians will be based on '67. The road map says let's sit together and agree together upon the borders."
Not so, said Moussa. Everything, including the '67 borders, he said, "is subject to the negotiations that will take place between the two parties."
"What we are offering in the Arab initiative is two states," Moussa said. "An Israeli state with the Jewish people living there and a Palestinian state, dividing the land of Palestine along the lines of 4 June 1967... If there are changes in the borders, or around the borders, they have to be astride the borders. You take this, I take that. Just to adjust."
Everything must be negotiated, he said, "in order to reach a solution that if this piece of land is to be given to Israel... the Palestinians should be compensated with another piece of land." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1148482045796&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
I certainly believe that when this agreement is worked out the borders will have to be negotiated and adjusted. For this reason I do not foresee Israel setting permanent borders and will eventually knock down any barrier walls that they have put up. But it will take the persuasiveness of the antichrist to get them to take another look and ultimately sign a seven-year peace accord or ceasefire agreement.
