A couple of days ago, I placed a link on my website that stated Israel was considering building a synagogue on the temple mount.

Certainly, this would be major news if the Arab world allowed this to happen.  Personally, I don’t ever see this happening but I guess anything is possible.

So what if the Arab world did allow this to happen?  As I said, this would be a major occurrence, but the truth is, a synagogue does not make a temple.

So what is a synagogue?  A synagogue is like a local place of worship, a church for praying, education, and a social welfare and community agency.  The point is no sacrifices can be done in a synagogue.

So what is the temple? The temple is the sole place where Jews gather worldwide to worship and where the priest can perform sacrifices.  It is in the temple alone that sacrifices can be administered.

The fact is, according to all the research I have read, no sacrifices have been performed since the Romans burned the temple to the ground in AD 70.  And don’t look for that to change!

This is significant for one reason and one reason only.  According to Daniel 9:27, during the tribulation period, the antichrist will enter the holy temple and stop the sacrifices:

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

The key to this verse is “he [antichrist] shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease”.  When the antichrist comes to power, sometime between the start and middle of his reign the real temple will be built.  It is at this time that the daily sacrifices will resume after most 2000 years. But without the rebuilding of the temple the sacrifices can not resume and this passage can't come to pass.

How this will happen is unknown…but according to the Bible it will happen…and when it does it won’t be fulfilled in a synagogue.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
