According to the online political/foreign affairs news service DEBKAfile, Israeli military leaders have underestimated the potential for war with Syria by this summer.

"Security sources say it is hasty and fails to take vital considerations into account, such as the possible effect of the Syrian ruler’s extreme isolation.

The report additionally risks being clouded by two disturbing manifestations.

One is the latest tendency of national security spokesmen and the new chief of staff Lt. Gen. Gaby Ashkenazi to reflect the official line as dictated by prime minister Ehud Olmert, defense minister Amir Peretz and other ministers, rather than voicing their professional opinions.

The second is the government’s slavish submission to US-Saudi Middle East policies, regardless of Israel’s interests." http://www.debka.com/

Even though Syrian president Assad is blacklisted by the Arab community, if war breaks out between Israel and Syria, they may be forced by the outcry of their own people to come to his aid.  This would be a disaster for Israel.

I have to agree with DEBKAfile.  It will be Israel's reliance and trust of other nations and so-called friends that will lead to their undoing.  Fortunately, God will not allow His people to be overtaken by their poor judgement.

Jordan's King Abdullah II said on Friday that he feels the window for Middle East peace is closing but there's still time.  He reiterated the fact that if the international community did not respond soon the opportunity would pass.

Certainly, King Abdullah II does not know the future nor what is to come.  To man this is a lost cause, but to God, all things are possible.  Peace will come, first by the antichrist temporarily, then perpetually by the Lord Jesus Christ.

US Vice President Dick Cheney has come out and criticized China's recent surge in it's military.  But they're not the only ones.  Seems many of the Middle East countries are also on a fast-track to a military buildup...and guess who their main supplier is?  You guessed it, Russia!

This military arms partnership falls right in line with Bible prophecy for these final days.  Ezekiel 38&39 states that in the last days Russia will lead an Arab alliance against Israel.  This military build up seems to be paving the way for this future attack.

Hizbullah is ready for another wave of attacks against Israel and will also fund terrorist plots by Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

To make matters worse, Israeli intelligence says that Hizbullah is stronger now under the watchful eye of the UN peacekeepers and Lebanese army than they were before this summers war with Israel.

I think we can safely say that the UN is not on Israel's side. In fact, the United Nations, Russia, their Arab partners, and the media are sponsoring an all-out media war against Israel claiming that their racist policies are as bad as South Africa's apartheid.

A report by the U.N. Human Rights Council accuses Israel of terror by flying jets that set off sonic booms, forcing "residents to live in fear of settler terror."  The report written by John Dugard, who formerly campaigned against South African apartheid called the Jews a race and said that Israeli terrorism was worse than Palestinian terrorism.

In his report he cited Palestinian Arabs for committing war crimes for their rocket attacks against Israel but said the Israelis (IDF) were guilty of much worse crimes. He also claims that despite the expulsion of Jewish settlers in Gaza they (Jews) still occupy and control this area.  He claims they have essentially turning Gaza into a fenced in impoverished prison state.  You can bet the world community will buy this hook-line-and sinker.

The full report will be published next month and presented at the UN.

This world reaction and the reaction to come is definitely a fulfillment of Bible prophecy.  In the last days, the Bible says that the nations of the world will see Israel as a burdensome stone (Zechariah 12:3) and don't look for it to get any lighter until the antichrist comes on the scene.

Even though this world's sentiment toward Israel is not new they have taken it to a new level.  I believe this report is designed to force the US and the Quartet to take a hard look at how Israel defends itself as the world sees it.  It's also designed to sympathize with Hamas (and their other terrorist partners) and why their refusal to recognize Israel is irrelevant to the problem.

Personally, I don't see this report changing the demands of the Quartet.  In the end, Hamas will have to moderate in their stand against Israel if sanctions are to be lifted...at least publicly.  Their public moderation may get sanctions lifted and create a Palestinian state but it won't change their goal of ultimately destroying Israel.  That day is still coming.

One last note: I certainly don't know the future and I'm not a prophet, but I do believe that current events are falling in line as the prophets of old have foretold in the Bible.  These prophecies have led us to this day where a Middle East pot is on the verge of exploding.  The Bible says it's going to explode but has failed to tell us the precise time.  With that said, I believe that we are so close that every event or potential event could lead to this explosion.

We are in the last days whether the Lord comes today or years from now.  We are fortunate to have been witness to the formulation of many of the Bible's prophecies for the last days.  A great number of them have taken shape and I believe are in an advanced stage, but it will be up to the Lord to bring them to pass in His time.

In the past (last few years), I have had a few Christians write me and tell me that they were essentially tired of waiting on the Lord and for me to take them off my mailing list.  That was their reason for the request.  Certainly I did without hesitation, but I fear they have placed themselves in another prophetic category.  The Bible says that in the last days there would be those who would turn to doubt saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation (II Peter 3:4)."  Of course, many take this to be the reaction of unbelievers toward the Second Coming of Christ but I'm not so sure it doesn't include believers as well.

This is why I believe this.  You may not be aware of this but there will be a reward for every believer who is eagerly looking for and loving the appearing of the Lord (II Timothy 4:8, Philippians 3:20 & 21, Romans 8:19-23).  This reward will be one of the five potential crowns a Christian can receive at the Bema Seat.  This leads me to believe that each Christian must be actively looking and loving the appearing of the Lord to receive this crown.  To just be a Christian will not grant to this reward.  Yes, you'll still go to heaven but with one less reward than you could have had.

So what's my point?  Don't lose heart when prophecy isn't fulfilled within your time frame.  God has everything under His control and will unravel the events of prophecy in His time and not before.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
