Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni told the Palestinian
daily Al Ayamm in an interview on Thursday that the Arab peace plan was not
acceptable in its present form.
I don't know if you've had a chance to look at the Arab plan but it possesses many of the features that prophecy experts have been for many years declaring will be a part of the eventual plan. Here is a summary of some of the major features:
"It is the first Arab document that welcomes the state of Israel in exchange for peace with the state of Palestine.
The plan also demands that Israel withdraw from all Palestinian territory and calls for "a just solution to the Palestinian refugee problem to be agreed upon in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 194."
The initiative stipulates that Israel allow the return of Palestinian refugees and compensate those who don't want to return.
"Consider the Arab-Israeli conflict ended, and enter into a peace agreement with Israel, and provide security for all the states of the region.""Establish normal relations with Israel in the context of this comprehensive peace."
It further calls for the establishment of a "sovereign independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian territories occupied since June 4, 1967 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with east Jerusalem as its capital." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1171894546721&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
All of the Arab nations have approved this plan but Israel feels there are a few glitches in the language of the document. In fact, Israeli Foreign Minister Livni said that the Palestinians claim of "right of return" is one of the obstacles that deem this plan unacceptable.
Although this plan contains many of the ingredients of what I believe will be incorporated in the final peace plan it will be the European Union who will get it done. I just don't believe Israel will ever come to the point of trusting their security to the Arab world no matter how many times they claim the Arab-Israeli conflict is over.
The European Union is such a natural fit for Israel. About 70% of all Israelis want to join the European Union. Israel has a tremendous amount in common with the EU and is one of their biggest trading partners. On the other hand, they have little to nothing in common with the Arab world and trade with them is virtually non-existent. Besides, it's a cultural and religious nightmare waiting to happen.
Future Palestinian Finance Minister Salam Fayyad has asked that the Quartet drop the demand that the newly formed Palestinian government recognize Israel. He claims that many of the members of the future government already adhere to a previously adopted 2003 mutual recognition pact with Israel.
I'm almost of the opinion that if the majority of the newly formed power-sharing (Palestinian) representatives accept as law this recognition pact with Israel that might be the compromise the quartet has been waiting for to release desperately needed funds and get the peace negotiations rolling again. But will Israel accept a Palestinian government where the majority will recognize them? Is that enough?
Today, Russia came out and warned the United States against attacking Iran. This was their boldest statement to date against an attack and if it didn't grab your attention it should. Russia is proving to be a very serious partner of Iran's as prophecy has foretold (Ezekiel 38 & 39).
Personally, I do not believe the US or Israel is going to attack Iran since the Bible prophesies that they will play a significant role in the future Russian-Arab attack against Israel. Certainly, that doesn't mean that they may not want to or intend to. Could an 11th hour peace plan be in the air?
Things are definitely heating up in the Middle East with threats of wars and rumors of wars just as the Bible has proclaimed for these last days.
