European officials have been telling Syria for weeks that Israel is preparing to
go to war with them by summer. One of the signs of a summer conflict is that Israeli officials have told major hospitals not to allow
their staff to take their vacations during the summer. Other signs are Israel
has been retraining army reservists,
updating battle plans, and preparing certain areas for missile attacks.
At the same time, a two-year military intelligence report found that Jordan’s King Abdullah, Israel's supposed Arab partner in peace, has been exposed as having a secret partnership with the Damascus-based radical Khaled Meshaal.
A high ranking Israeli official was quoted as saying, “All these years Israel was guided by the knowledge that Meshaal was sponsored by Damascus and more recently Tehran. We now learn the entire Hamas leadership also enjoyed the patronage of the Hashemite court in Amman. It has been a real shock.”
Certainly, Jordan's connection to Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal is no shock to me and you can bet it isn't to Israel either. They may have expressed public shock but that's exactly what this display was for...the public. Israel is hard-pressed to trust any of its Arab neighbors and for good reason. Egypt is another one of Israel's Arab peace partners that I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw them. When the Islamic storm comes calling you can bet that both of these countries will be in the mix.
If you haven't heard, lately there have been calls for Israel to make peace with the Arab world now and work out details such as the Palestinian refugee right of return, Jerusalem, and the Arab recognition of Israel at a later date. This would supposedly bring about immediate peace between the Arab world and Israel while representatives continue to negotiate on the sticking points that have held peace up for so many years.
This is certainly a possibility I wouldn't rule out. I have always believed that the present friction between the Palestinian Authority and Israel would lead to the signing of a peace accord with the antichrist, but is it possible that there could be two peace agreements...one with the Arab world and one (at a later time) with the Antichrist?
Could it be that there will first be a temporary peace agreement with the Islamic world that will require Israel to make deep concessions? Israeli Prime Minister Olmert says he is ready and willing to do just that. Could this be the time of peace and safety for Israel that Ezekiel 38:11-14 is speaking about just before Russia and their Islamic allies attack?
If this were the case, the peace accord with the Antichrist could be a separate agreement altogether that could come about immediately following the war or years down the road. But either way, following this great victory, Israel will reclaim the Temple Mount and rebuild their Temple. Truthfully, it maybe years after the war of Gog and Magog before the second peace plan comes to pass.
As time goes on, the European Union will ratify its constitution and elect a president. They may have several presidents come to office before the antichrist comes on the scene.
I realize this is speculation and the likelihood of there being two separate peace accords with Israel in these last days is highly unlikely, but it does give us something to think about as we read the headlines. Certainly, the next event on the prophetic calendar is the rapture of the church.
