PA Official: Barak, Livni Holding Olmert Back On Peace Process; Summit Date Moved To November 27th

An unnamed PA official said that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was being held back from signing a declaration ahead of the scheduled November 27th peace summit by Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

"Olmert is willing but the problem is with Livni and Barak," said the official, who asked to remain anonymous. "As of yet he haven't been able to reach an agreement on anything, and there has been absolutely no progress."

"There needs to be a clear decision by the political echelon in Israel, and only then will we be able to move forward," he said, adding that he believes Olmert and Abbas will ultimately have to personally close the deal on the declaration in a face-to-face meeting.  http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/923218.html

So far Israeli and Palestinian negotiators have agreed that they would jump right to the final status agreement before the first stage of the road map is implemented.

Olmert said there would be a period of time, which he called a "buffer zone," between the agreement and its implementation. "If stage one of the road map is implemented - if the Palestinians dismantle terror infrastructure - then and only then will Israel have to implement the agreement."  http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/923218.html

According to reports Olmert is also stating that the first step of the agreement is the recognition by the PA government that the state of Israel is the state of the Jewish people.

Personally, I have a hard time believing the PA government will ever recognize Israel in any form or fashion... but we'll see what the future holds.  Certainly, for the sake of destroying Israel they may agree to anything temporarily.

In other Middle East peace news, Israeli leaders are a bit shocked that the US seems to be cozying up to Syria and making promises without consulting them first... especially, since they were heavily involved in the success of the destruction of Syria's nuclear facilities just a few months ago.

As for the promise, it has been rumored that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has offered the Syrian delegation floor time at the summit to make its case for Israel to return the Golan Heights.  The issue of the Golan Heights has also been included in the closing remarks of the peace conference.  This all done without consulting Israeli officials.

In Pakistan, Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto has called for the resignation of President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.  She was originally slated to rule in Musharraf's government but now she refuses to play any part in it after being placed under house arrest two times in the last week.  "I simply won't be able to believe anything he said to me," she told reporters by telephone.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,311056,00.html

Don't look for Musharraf to step down unless he's fleeing for his life... and that certainly could be the case.  With growing unrest spreading to many parts of Pakistan and General Musharraf's insistence that January elections be held under a state of emergency we could be looking at the beginning stages of all-out Civil War.

Here's a shocking development!  A recent report by a group of scientists indicates that we are running out of oil and sooner than any government or oil official is willing to admit.

"BP's Statistical Review of World Energy, published yesterday, appears to show that the world still has enough 'proven' reserves to provide 40 years of consumption at current rates. The assessment, based on officially reported figures, has once again pushed back the estimate of when the world will run dry."

"However, scientists led by the London-based Oil Depletion Analysis Centre, say that global production of oil is set to peak in the next four years before entering a steepening decline which will have massive consequences for the world economy and the way that we live our lives."

"According to 'peak oil' theory our consumption of oil will catch, then outstrip our discovery of new reserves and we will begin to deplete known reserves." http://news.independent.co.uk/sci_tech/article2656034.ece

Whether this theory has any validity to it is unknown, but one things for sure, the world is pumping oil almost as fast as it can be found and two of the world's major users (China and India) just got on board in the last decade.  And the world consumption need continues to grow on a daily basis.

"What no one, not even BP, disagrees with is that demand is surging. The rapid growth of China and India matched with the developed world's dependence on oil, mean that a lot more oil will have to come from somewhere. BP's review shows that world demand for oil has grown faster in the past five years than in the second half of the 1990s. Today we consume an average of 85 million barrels daily. According to the most conservative estimates from the International Energy Agency that figure will rise to 113 million barrels by 2030." http://news.independent.co.uk/sci_tech/article2656034.ece

Why would the topic of oil come up in the pages of a Bible prophecy report?  Because it's very possible oil may play a devastating role in the next world war.  As stated earlier, in the next four years we could see a "steepening decline [in oil production] which will have massive consequences for the world economy and the way that we live our lives."  Many nations may see no alternative but to forcibly take control of the world oil supply or see their massive infrastructure come to a screeching halt.

Much of the civilized world would gasp in horror at the very thought of going to war over oil, but with our present-day dependency and with no alternative on the horizon, this could be the scenario that awaits us.

Could oil be one of the reasons the Kings of the East take their murderous march toward Jerusalem during the final days of the tribulation period?  Could oil be the purpose Russia comes to take a spoil against Israel in the last days (Ezekiel 38:12)?

Of course, no significant amount of oil has been discovered in Israel to date, but many prophecy experts believe that will change in the very near future.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
