Rice: U.S. remains "concerned" about (nuclear) proliferation in the Middle East and singled out Syria in particular
"[Talks deal with] all the core issues without exception: Jerusalem, refugees, settlements, borders and security. We hope to achieve a settlement in 2008; there are many obstacles but we hope they will be removed. We are all pressing to reach a settlement by the target date," Abbas said. WorldNetDaily
This quote came straight from Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and should be no surprise. One day, we could wake up to the news that Israeli officials have bargained away Jerusalem and much of the West Bank. That is, of course, if it is not part of the peace agreement the Antichrist will bring. It is my belief that much in Bible prophecy will be completed after the rapture of the church. The peace talks could remain out of reach until Christians are removed and the Antichrist revealed.
The US is very concerned about nuclear proliferation in the Middle East and particularly in Syria. Truthfully, they should be and I believe that Bible prophecy will one day bear this out. I realize that many around the world are totally against the war in Iraq and any further military action in the Middle East (Iran) by coalition forces. But allowing Iraq, Iran or any nation to thumb their nose at the world (regarding nuclear inspections) will only embolden a host of other countries to do the same opening up the floodgates to what will prove to be a very dangerous precedent. This likely will lead to the nuclear war described in Revelation, chapter 6, that will claim one-quarter of the world's population.
There is also an alternative to this scenario in which terrorists gain access to nuclear technology (through Iran, Syria, North Korea, etc.) and use it against the free world setting off a massive nuclear response against the harboring nation(s). Certainly, we are naïve to believe that terrorist states such as these will not jump at the chance to pass along nuclear weapons to terrorist regimes who are bent on the destruction of Israel and the United States. Osama bin Laden threatened that an American Hiroshima was coming, and frankly, if the Middle East is allowed to go nuclear, I have no reason to believe he won't make good on his promise.
Here is an interesting commentary by JewishWorldReview.com reporter Mort Zuckerman, regarding the blatant hypocrisy toward Israel and their response to continued Hamas missile and terrorist attacks.
"The world applauded when Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, forcibly removing Jewish settlers. At last, the Palestinians were free to show how they could build their own society.
But what did they do with their freedom? They elected the terrorist organization Hamas in 2006. First Fatah and now Hamas have rained 4,000 rockets on Israel, killed 24, and wounded 620 — the equivalent of killing 1,200 Americans and wounding 31,000. The citizens of Sderot and Ashkelon have suffered a collective trauma; children fear that when parents leave for work, they will never see them again.
And what does the world do?
It criticizes Israel — Israel! — for a 'disproportionate' response. Israel is discriminating in trying to defend its people. It attacks Gaza's rocket launchers, weapons factories, and terrorists, all hidden in civilian areas.
What is a proportionate response? None at all, it seems.
Hamas kills indiscriminately. It makes no distinction between civilians and combatants. But it is Israel that earns the opprobrium. The moral equivalency was evident in a New York Times headline: 'Hamas and Israelis Trade Attacks, Killing at Least Nine.' Nor did TV broadcast pictures of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza celebrating the news that eight teenagers had been shot dead and many more injured in the library of a Jewish religious school in Jerusalem.
Would Paris, London, Bonn, or New York sit back quietly if terrorists attacked from sanctuaries somewhere just off their borders? Silent voices. Where is the world's outrage against these Palestinian war crimes? Twelve resolutions have passed the United Nations Human Rights Council on the conflict, but not one has made even a passing reference to the terrorism against Israel.
Where is the appreciation that while under attack, Israel has continued to supply its enemies with electricity and with 2,500 tons of food and medicines every day? Last year, 14,000 Gazan Palestinians were treated in Israeli medical facilities." JWR
There is no question that the world community is firmly standing against Israel and secretly await its final demise. But that day will never come...for Zechariah 12:3 says, "In that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."
That day is here, and though the whole world stand against Israel, in the end, God will prove faithful and they shall be cut to pieces.
