Israel prepares for the Apocalypse; Ben Eliezer: Strike by Iran Would Spell Its End; Olmert and Abbas aim for agreement by end of 2008

Ben Eliezer: Strike by Iran Would Spell Its End
(IsraelNN.com) National Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said Monday that "an Iranian attack will lead to a harsh response by Israel, which will cause the destruction of the Iranian nation."

Ben Eliezer visited the National Infrastructures Ministry war room as part of the national emergency response exercise and said: "I expect that in the first strike Israel will be hit by hundreds of missiles. There will be no place in the country that will be outside the range of Syria's and Hizbullah's missiles and rockets."

He told the war room staff: "We, as a ministry, need to prepare for the possibility that missiles will hit Israel's strategic spots, for which our ministry is responsible. You must use your heads and prepare for the worst scenarios." Israel National News

Israel prepares for the Apocalypse
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert declared a simulated state of emergency Monday following the scenario of a barrage of hundreds of missiles fired on Israel from Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, as the country's largest-ever emergency exercise, "Turning Point 2," continues. While the name of the drill sounds like a film sequel, the scope of the exercise is unprecedented. Dozens of Israeli civilians were "killed" on Sunday as Israel went to "war" with Syria, Hizbullah and Hamas on the first day of the exercise.

The five-day drill opened with an announcement by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday of an outbreak of hostilities following the firing of Katyusha rockets into northern Israel by Hizbullah in Lebanon. The simulated conflict, conducted in telescoped time, escalated and by the afternoon - representing the fourth day of the war -- Israel was also being slammed by Syrian missiles and Hamas-fired Kassams and Katyushas from Gaza.

A defense official involved in the exercise said that the National Emergency Authority -- in charge of the drill -- reported that by the fourth day of the war several dozen civilians had been killed by the missiles. The official said that it was possible that by Monday, Israel would also start getting hit by Iranian Shihab-3 ballistic missiles. Then the numbers were expected start to soar.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, sirens will blast nationwide in the rising and descending note that few young Israelis have ever heard, although they were sounded in the 1967 and 1973 wars and in the 1991 Gulf War; civilians, who have been stripped of their protective kits containing gas masks, have nothing much to do except locate the nearest bomb shelter or protected room. Children in schools will be expected to "duck for cover" or head in the nearest protective space.  Israel Insider

Watching Israelis get ready for war, neighbors get nervous
Officials in Syria, Lebanon and Iran have expressed concern that the Israeli civil defense mega-drill "Turning Point 2" is either a pretext for hostile offensive action or a preparation for it. "The states of the region must closely watch the Israeli drill. These provocative actions should be brought to the attention of the relevant officials in the international community," an Iranian official said. Israel Insider

Syria: U.S. can buy our loyalty; For Saudis' place as chief ally, trade partner, willing to discuss peace with Israel, Iran ties
JERUSALEM – If the U.S. helps facilitate billions of dollars in business for Syria and builds up Damascus as the primary American ally in the Arab world in place of Saudi Arabia, the Syrians would be willing to discuss scaling back alliances with Iran and making peace with Israel, according to a senior Syrian official speaking to WND.  WND

Exclusive: Fatah and Hamas reach framework accord in three weeks of secret talks
DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources report that direct covert talks between Palestinian Authority Chairman, the Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political chief Khaled Meshaal have been going on for three weeks and yielded a five-part framework accord.

The two parties endeavored to keep their channel under cover after Abbas promised President George W. Bush on the first visit he paid the Palestinian Authority on Jan. 10 - and assured Vice President Dick Cheney on March 23 - that he would not hold talks with Hamas. The channel is run by close confidants of the Fatah and Hamas leaders, but during the Arab League Summit on March 29 and 30, Abbas and Meshaal met face to face to confirm the points of agreement achieved thus far.

Both US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert are well aware of Abbas’ underhand track but are keeping it dark to avoid embarrassment, because Bush has branded Hamas a terrorist movement, and Olmert is committed to breaking off peace talks with the PA chairman if he starts a dialogue with Hamas.

Abbas is therefore able to quietly brandish his dialogue with Hamas as a gun for squeezing more concessions from Washington and Jerusalem. However forthcoming, neither can be sure that the benefits granted him will not be used to boost a Palestinian government coalition that Abbas is striving to establish with Hamas. DEBKAfile

Analysis
For the first time, an Israeli official has come out uncharacteristically strong against Iranian threats of an attack essentially saying that Iran would suffer a tremendous retaliation that would bring them to the point of extinction.  " National Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said Monday that 'an Iranian attack will lead to a harsh response by Israel, which will cause the destruction of the Iranian nation.'"

"He told the war room staff: 'We, as a ministry, need to prepare for the possibility that missiles will hit Israel's strategic spots, for which our ministry is responsible. You must use your heads and prepare for the worst scenarios.'" Israel National News

As you may know, Israel is in the middle of staging the country's largest-ever emergency exercise.  This military exercise has many in the region on high alert for the possibility that Israel may be using this exercise to stage an attack on their nation.  The supposed likely targets are Hizbullah, Syria and Iran.

Yesterday, Syria was due to reveal their findings on who they believe assassinated Hizbullah leader and master bomb maker Imad Mughniyeh.  Hizbullah has vowed to exact revenge on whoever is found to be behind his assassination.  So far, no word from Syria.

At the same time, Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations are supposedly going forward in hopes of having an agreement by late 2008.  Although, the Bible predicts that a peace agreement will come (Daniel 9:27), and it will, I question whether it will take hold during the Bush Administration.  I look for someone to come in after and confirm the groundwork that has already been laid.

At this time, cooler heads appear on the surface to be prevailing, but one day the title "Israel Prepares For The Apocalypse," will be all to real and without warning.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
