Could Israel Be The Next Target Of The New High Powered Cold War Between Russia And The US?
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- If Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni succeeds in forming a new Cabinet within the 40-day deadline accorded to her by Israeli law, she will become the next prime minister of Israel. And if she becomes prime minister, current indications are that Livni will opt to move forward in negotiating a peaceful solution between the state of Israel and the Palestinians.
Analysts believe Livni will be willing to move forward with the stagnating peace process with the Palestinians, and that she is in favor of a two-state solution. Indeed, she received immediate and positive feedback from Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erakat after winning Kadima's nomination to become the next prime minister of Israel.
Livni also has indicated that she would be willing to pursue peace talks with the Syrians. Yet the reality -- and the probability -- of such a deal bearing fruit remains extremely vague at best. ME Times
"The eruption of the U.S. sub-prime crisis has exposed massive loopholes in the United States' financial oversight and supervision," writes the commentator, Shi Jianxun.
"The world urgently needs to create a diversified currency and financial system and fair and just financial order that is not dependent on the United States." Reuters
Analysis
With both Israel and the United States coming out against Russia in
their recent invasion of Georgia, this has further served to entrench the alignment
between Russia, Iran and Syria. It didn't make life any easier for Israel
either placing them squarely on the side of the US.
This sudden change of events will make it all but impossible for the world to shackle Iran with further sanctions over their nuclear ambitions. Due to recent US missile shield deals in Russia's backyard, Russia seems all too eager to make military alliances with enemies of the United States.
Something that I feel to be very dangerous, but now unlikely, is the courting of Georgia or any other former Soviet state to become a NATO member. This could prompt Russia to form a similar military alliance to combat a US lead NATO, or worse, obligate NATO to come to the aid of a trigger happy former Soviet state. Already Russia has re-opened an old friendship with Cuba and eagerly participated in war games with Venezuela. Both are on the doorstep of the US and both could play a critical role in any future conflict between Russia (or an ally) and the US. Given recent events, it wouldn't shock me if Russia suddenly announced that any attack on one of their allies would be considered an attack on them leaving Israel with little option but to forgo an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Of course, this could also be the reason behind why Russia participates in an attack against Israel...retaliation for destroying Iran's nuclear facilities.
I believe these end time alliances are no accident and will serve to be the starting point in what will climax with an attack on Israel by the Russian-Islamic alliance as described in Ezekiel 38 & 39. Although Israel is a strong ally of the United States, they, like Georgia, are far from their protecting arms. As both sides continue to build alliances, is it possible that Israel could be the next target of this winner take all battle for supremacy? If we are to believe what the Bible says the answer is a resounding yes!
