Thursday, 7 March, 2002, 20:56 GMT Israeli Raids Reach New Peak Israeli armed forces have carried out their biggest assault on the West Bank and Gaza Strip since the Palestinian uprising began 17 months ago. At least 10 Palestinians were killed in the onslaught - seven as the Israeli military stormed into Tulkarm in the northern West Bank in the search for suspected militants. Elsewhere, a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in an attack on a Jewish settlement in the West Bank, while a second suspected bomber was arrested in Jerusalem. The United States restated its support for Israel on Thursday, a day after criticising it for "declaring war on the Palestinians". And the US now appears poised to send its peace envoy Anthony Zinni back to the region, despite having earlier suggested that it would not do so unless violence abated. Dozens of tanks, backed by aircraft, rolled into the town of Tulkarm and onto the outskirts of the Tulkarm and Nour Shams refugee camps on Thursday. Seven Palestinians died in the air strikes and in subsequent fighting as soldiers conducted door-to-door searches for militants. Israeli helicopters also fired rockets into the Jabalya refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip, reportedly injuring at least three people. Earlier, a leader of the Islamic Jihad group and at least one other Palestinian militant were killed in separate clashes with Israeli troops in the territories. Bethlehem Under Israeli Attack By Matt Spetalnick BETHLEHEM, West Bank (Reuters) - Israeli troops swept through Palestinian-ruled Bethlehem Friday as the United States prepared to follow a long trail of bloodshed with a new truce mission by its Middle East envoy. At least 34 Palestinians, including a general and a nine-year-old boy, had been killed by Israeli forces since late Thursday, Palestinian officials said -- some of the bloodiest few hours in 17 months of revolt against Israeli occupation. A Palestinian gunman killed five Israelis in a settlement in Gaza, drawing a punishing Israeli sweep through a village, while in the West Bank, residents said dozens of armed Jewish settlers went on a rampage in another Palestinian village. END Israel will continue its assault on various cities in the Gaza Strip and West Bank until the violence stops. We will either see war on a large scale (Arab world) very soon or peace will become a reality. When I say peace becoming a reality, it is very possible that the antichrist could step forward very soon to sign a peace treaty that has previous been considered unattainable. In fact, I heard a newscaster from one of the major channels say that peace in that region would "require a miracle". As we continue to see the violence escalate in the Middle East, look up, for the rapture of the church may not be far behind. Pastor Malone
